INTRODUCTION
This study will focus on Harnessing Banana Peel Extract for Creating Floor Wax. Banana
peel extract is a natural, biodegradable material with friction and wear properties, reducing
friction and wear on the floor surface. It also reduces pollution and environmental impact. The
performance of banana peel extract as a floor wax will be measured by factors like longevity,
shine, and effects. Floor wax, a protective coating, is suitable for various flooring surfaces,
including vinyl, ceramic, and concrete, making it suitable for commercial and office settings.
Western Mindanao State University claims. Despite being viewed as waste, banana peels
are a rich source of bioactive substances with natural antioxidant and antibacterial qualities, such
as flavonoids, polyphenols, and carotenoids (Bala 2019). These components found in banana
peels have previously been used in a variety of industrial applications. The demand for floor
waxes that not only enhance surface aesthetics but also align with sustainable practices has
promoted the exploration of botanical sources as viable alternatives. Their applications range
from food and pharmaceuticals to agriculture and cosmetics (Liu 2018 and Souza 2020). Banana
peels contain potassium, a chemical element, that can be applied to leather, woods, and metals
that makes a natural polishing agent and can be used to shine the mentioned materials (Angela G.
Alcaraz et al., 2019). The possible benefits of using Banana peel’s renewable, biodegradable, and
low toxicity make it a useful ingredient in floor wax formulations.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of banana peel extract as a floor
cleaning agent and its impact on the longevity and shine of treated floors compared to traditional
wax treatments. Additionally, the study aims to assess the benefits of using banana peel extract
for floor cleaning.
There are several reasons why using banana peels in floor wax is different. According to
(Brown 2022) they are a natural, environmentally beneficial substitute for commercial floor
waxes, which frequently contain chemicals. Because of this, it's a safer choice—especially for
families with kids, dogs, or anyone who have sensitivity to certain chemicals or allergies
(Emilysmaids 2022). Secondly, it can be less expensive to use banana peels as floor wax. This is
a creative and cheap way to use banana peels that would otherwise be thrown away as waste.
Banana peels are usually tossed as waste. According to (Anderson and White 2018) research has
demonstrated that the efficacy of banana peel wax is on par with that commercial floor wax.
Concrete flooring material can be properly treated using it.
1. Determine the best way to make banana peel extract to clean floors well.
2. Find out if floors treated with banana peel extract last longer and stay shiny compared to floors
treated with regular wax.
3. Figure out if using banana peel extract to clean floors is effective compare to regular floor
wax.
The Efficacy of Guava Leaf as a Hand Sanitizer
INTRODUCTION
This study will focus on The Effectiveness of Guava leaf as a Hand Sanitizer, focusing on
its effectiveness in killing germs and reducing microbial contamination. Guava, also known as
Psidium guajava, is a fruit rich in bioactive substances with antibacterial properties. Guava leaf
extracts have been proven effective against various diseases, making them a sustainable solution
to reduce reliance on artificial chemicals. Guava leaves are dark green and oval, often used in
traditional South Asian treatments. Their unique flavor is beneficial for health and is popular in
Mexican, Thai, and Indian cooking (Mitch Baylis 2023). Hand sanitizers, available in cream,
spray, or wipe form, are used to eradicate bacteria, viruses, and other germs from hands. They
are commonly used in various settings, such as childcare centers, schools, hospitals, clinics,
supermarkets, and cruise ships (Kara Roger & Britannica 2024)
Guava leaves are frequently utilized in traditional medicine; they may have antimicrobial
properties that stop the growth of bacteria. Regarding the regional literature, per (Yaun, E. and
Vasquez, B. 2017) Guava leaf extract, which is used to make guava hand sanitizer gel, is slowing
down the growth rate of Staphylococcus aureus. According to (Hwang El 2015), citrus fruit
flavonoids are essential oils that have been shown to have antibacterial properties. According to
(Firdous Shaikh et al, 2020) the prepared formulation of herbal hand sanitizer showed good
effect on bacterial strains like E. coli and Bacillus subtilis. It also has antimicrobial, antibacterial,
anti-inflammatory effects. In contrast to guava leaves, this extract's antibacterial properties center
on the effects of ethanol. Ethanol from guava leaves was significantly more effective than hand
sanitizers in removing detectable rhinovirus from hands, according to (Turner, Fuls, and Rodgers
2010). (Gonçalves et al, 2008) conducted a study where they screened the antimicrobial effect of
essential oils and methanol, hexane, and ethyl acetate extracts from guava leaves. The extracts
were screened against bacteria strains isolated from sea bob shrimp and laboratory culture
strains. The researchers concluded that guava leaf extracts and essential oil are very active
against S. aureus, thus making up important potential sources of new antimicrobial compounds
(Kumar M. et al 2021 and Amat-ur-Rasool H. et al 2020). Hence, although plant leaves are
considered as agricultural waste, they are a rich source of high-value nutra-pharmaceutical
compounds.
The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the benefits of natural herbal hand sanitizers
for cleanliness, preventing infections from entering the body through the hands, and emphasizing
their affordability, biodegradability, and friendliness to the environment. The study underlines
how crucial good hand hygiene is to avoiding illnesses.
Guava leaves have special qualities that make them an excellent hand sanitizer, which is
why they are unique as a hand sanitizer. Flavonoids and tannins, two of its natural components,
offer antibacterial and antiseptic qualities. Guava leaves are a great substitute for chemical-based
hand sanitizers because of these component’s ability to destroy bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Its
delicate nature also lessens the chance of skin irritation or dryness due to the guava leaf extract.
To further improve the hand sanitizing experience, its natural fragrance also adds a pleasing
scent. The guava leaf is a unique option for hand sanitization because of its skin-friendly
qualities and natural effectiveness (Morais Braga et al, 2019).
Statement of the Problem
2. To evaluate the potential skin compatibility and irritation levels of guava leaf
hand sanitizer through dermatological testing on human participants.
3. To investigate the long-term stability and shelf-life of guava leaf hand sanitizer
formulations under various storage conditions to ensure its practicality for everyday
use.
Assessing The Effectiveness of Rose Petal as a Soothing Tea Beverage
INTRODUCTION
This study will focus on Assessing the Effectiveness of Rose Petal as a Soothing Tea
Beverage. Rose tea, a natural caffeine-free alternative, has been used for centuries for its
medicinal benefits, including relaxation, mood upliftment, and menstrual pain relief. With over
130 species and thousands of cultivars, rose petals have been used as a digestive aid in the
Middle East for centuries. Tea is the second most popular beverage globally, and the Camellia
sinensis tea plant's young leaves and buds are steeped in boiling water to make tea. Drinking
herbal tea is not only a soothing habit but also beneficial for various health features due to its
components.
A study involving twelve rose cultivars was conducted to determine their potential as
edible flowers. The study measured the levels of total phenols, total anthocyanins, and
antioxidant activity in hot water infusions made from air-dried petals of these cultivars. The
essential oil-bearing rose had the highest levels of gallic acid concentrations, total phenols, and
antioxidant activity (Rosa damascena, San Francisco, Mercedes, and Katharina Zeimet). The
study found no significant relationship between anthocyanin levels and antioxidant activity.
Water extracts of rose flowers have been shown to have sedative, antistress, haemostatic,
stomach-fortifying, liver-fortifying, intestine-fortifying, fever suppressant, skin disease
protection, and analgesic properties (Kart and Çağındı, 2017), Moreover, medicinal properties,
viz. anti-HIV, antibacterial, antiseptic, antioxidant, antiviral, aphrodisiac, antitussive, hypnotic,
antidiabetic, relaxant effect on tracheal chains, and a tonic for the heart, liver, stomach (Dilay,
K.; Çagındı, Ö., 2017). (Cendrowski et al. 2017) reported that the content of polyphenolic
compounds in liqueurs from R. rugosa petals macerated with 65% ethanol was 95.1 mg/cm3,
confirming that R. rugosa petals, being rich in phenolic compounds, are valuable raw materials as
a source of bioactive compounds for the production of functional foods and pro-health
preparations. The study concluded that dried rose petals could be used to make antioxidant-rich,
caffeine-free drinks. According to (Y. Vinokur, et al, 2008).
The purpose of this study is to investigate the soothing effects of drinking rose petal tea.
It will evaluate mood swings, stress levels, and the quality of sleep in order to determine how
effectively it works in promoting relaxation and general wellbeing. The results of the study will
provide light on its potential as a home treatment for improving emotional well-being and
relaxation. The study advances our knowledge of the advantages of preparing rose petal tea as a
soothing beverage as part of everyday life.
Rose petal tea is a unique and soothing beverage due to its naturally caffeine-free nature,
making it suitable for those who are sensitive to caffeine. It is also a great choice for relaxation
and winding down at the end of the day. Rose petal tea is rich in antioxidants, which are
beneficial for overall health and wellbeing. It is an excellent source of vitamin C, which boosts
the immune system and promotes skin health. One cup of rose petal tea can provide a significant
portion of your daily vitamin C requirement. Additionally, rose petal tea has mood-boosting
properties, helping to shake off bad moods and relax you when feeling stressed. (Elise Mndl et al
2019)
Statement of the Problem
3. Assess the improvement in mood and emotional well-being by administering pre- and
post-consumption mood surveys, aiming to understand the tea's influence on mental
health.
