Abstract

This mixed- method research study generally aimed to determine the study habits of

SHS academic achievers. This study utilized thematic, descriptive, and inferential data

analysis. Purposive random sampling was used to identify the respondents of the study.

The data was gathered through two (2) research-made instruments, an interview

protocol and a survey questionnaire which were validated by experts. The result of the

thematic analysis showed that there were five (5) recurring factors in the study habits of

the grade 12 academic achievers which are; environment, concentration, preparing for a

test, planning of time, and note-taking. The results of the descriptive data analysis

showed that study habits of the grade 12 achievers as whole group was “excellent”.

Results also showed that females have better study habits compared to males when

grouped according to sex. Results drawn from the inferential data analysis, has shown

that there is no significant difference in the study habits of SHS awardees when grouped

according to sex and strand. The present study would be a good source of knowledge

with regard to the study habits of SHS achievers of Alimodian National Comprehensive

High School. Thus, further studies and sample plots should be conducted in other
