B-TECH PROJECT TEMPLATE

TITLE PAGE

The cover page should bear the information concerning the university, the school with
their respective logo and the department of the student.

Project topic or title should be concise and match with the student specialty. The topic
title font size page should be the largest of the cover page.

The name and the matricule of the student should appear on the title page as well as the
degree sought.
Then should appear the name of the student’s supervisor and the academic year of
submission of the B-tech report.

The main text of your B-tech report should not exceed 25 pages.
ABSTRACT (1page max)
Here should be provided a brief description of the problem studied during the B-tech
project. It should point the main issues faced and the solution as well as the innovation
designed to tackle the problem. Finally, an overview of the results obtained during the
project realization should be given.
Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION TO THE PROJECT (2-3 pages max)

In this chapter, a background of the problem to address in the project should be given in a
more detail manner. It should clearly state the problem that the student will attempt to
address through his work. The relevance and the justification of the project should be
given in terms of the impact in the engineering field, the society as well as in the
economy.
The methodology adopted to to solve the problem should be presented. This methodology
should first of all outline on which physical or engineering principle the solution to be
implemented relies on. Then, it should clearly demonstrate how the approach or solution
addresses the problem previously stated.
This chapter usually ends with and outline of the subsequent chapters (2, 3, 4 and 5).
Chapter 2: LITERATURE REVIEW (4-6 pages max)

This chapter presents the exiting works in the domain that have been implemented to
address similar or related problems. It should provide clear description of those solutions
and point out their strengths and weaknesses. A discussion of possible improvement to
done on the exiting solution should be enumerated and selection of the final one that tie
with the problem in hand should be clearly highlighted.
Chapter 3: MAIN WORK OF THE PROJECT (4 – 6 pages max)

This chapter details the complete description of the solution to be implemented. The
“cahier des charges” and other specifications that the project should fulfill should be
clearly spelt out. The design of the project should be presented step-by-step providing the
detail of each module include in the design as well as the difficulties faced in the design
of such module and how those difficulties have been addressed. The diagrams and other
figures relatives to each step of the design should be presented and well-commented.
Usually this chapter ends with a diagram describing how the approach or solution to
implement will function globally.
Chapter 4: IMPLEMENTATION OR REALISATION OF THE PROJECT. (5 – 7 pages
max)

Here, we start by recalling the goal of the project and show how the solution has been
designed. This should be done by proving at each step the possible implementation done
and the results obtained. Those results should be given as pictures, snapshot, screen shots
or graphic which must be referred in the text and commented. Likewise, as the solutions
are presented, the possible difficulties encountered in their realization should also be
presented and how they have been addressed as well.
Those results should also be discussed and compared to those available in the literature or
the product found in the market. In case any innovation has been achieved, it should be
clearly mention and demonstrated how the proposed solution outperforms the available
ones.
Chapter 5: Conclusions and Future work (1page max)

This last chapter starts by recalling the global objectives of the project. It states the
challenges and problem that have been faced to achieve the project. It also recalls the
system specifications that were required to design an efficient solution. It presents
globally the results obtained and state whether the solution or system achieved fulfills the
required specifications. If no, what were the limitations that hinder the achievement of a
satisfying solution? If yes, is the solution completely satisfying, provide the limitations or
other improvements that can be carried out come up with a more robust and efficient
system. Present the economic value of the project and its impact in the society.
