WORKSHEETS
WRITING DRAFT 1:
In the reading, Extreme Perception and Animal Intelligence fron the authors
Temple Grandin and Catherine Johnson, talk about two examples wich show a
sign of high intelligence in animals. The first example is about Seizure alert dogs.
These dogs wich can predict a seizure before it starts are a good example of
animals using their extreme perception to solve problems. Nobody knows how
they do this, because this kind of signs isn't perceived by people. Also, one study
found that most seizure alert dogs were trained to respond to seizures, not predict
them because those are standards that any dog can be trained to perfom, so they
did it for themselves. The next example is about Clever Hans. He is horse whose
owner thought he could count because Hans would tap out the number withc his
hoof in order to answer some matematical questions. Although a psychologist
showed that Hans wasn't counting, and he descovered that Hans could anserthe
question only when people who ask was in plain view and already knew the
answer, it was due to he was observing unconcious clues that huemans were
giving his without noticed it. No one has ever been able to train a horse this kind of
behavior. What makes those examples very similar is that they did things that
aren't attributed to them. Furthermore, the facts that any of them neede
humanshelp to acquire their talents and then decide to do something about it
shows a sign of high intelligence.
WRITING DRAFT 2:
Imagine being immortal and living in 2175. Sounds crazy, right? While the idea of an
extended lifespan may initially seem appealing, a closer examination reveals potential
drawbacks and challenges associated with living until 2175. This essay explores the
reasons why an exceptionally long life might not be as desirable as it appears, touching
upon societal, psychological, and existential concerns that could arise in the pursuit of
extreme longevity.
Extending human life beyond the current average raises questions about the
sustainability of such a population. The strain on societal resources, including
healthcare, housing, and food production, could become overwhelming. A rapidly
aging population may lead to increased demand for social services, potentially resulting
in economic challenges and exacerbating existing inequalities. Living for several more
decades may lead to a sense of monotony and a loss of purpose. Traditional life
milestones such as education, career, and family formation could be prolonged,
potentially robbing individuals of the drive to achieve and contribute meaningfully to
society. As technology advances, the prospect of living until 2175 raises concerns about
the potential for societal disconnection and ethical dilemmas. The rapid pace of
technological change may create a divide between generations, leaving those with
extended lifespans struggling to adapt to an ever-evolving digital landscape.
Returning to the present, I can only tell you that being immortal is not as awesome as
some people might think it is, to the contrary, it is like a nightmare, and I wish it would,
but once you make the decision, it is utterly done for you. I can not say I suffered the
first years, because I had fun with my family and friends until the ones who decided not
to get vaccinated, currently died by the past of time... Of course, I just had to deal with
that, but fortunately, I had my partner, who was immortal too, and we made our lives,
unfortunately, the problems started, and he decided to divorce, and now he has a new
wife, and a family, which made and makes me feel loveless until now because I have
never loved as I loved him.
For now, I have decided not to have kids, because even though there are many good
things about being immortal, at a certain point, your life starts to get boring, and as it
happened to me, my life just stopped having a purpose. I just want to end by saying
that my worst decision was getting vaccinated with that vaccine, full of tricks and lies
from part of the government. I am sure that many people share the same feeling.
Anyway, I hope someday I can find any sense in my life, and some love. I think no one
deserves to feel like this, and if someone ever finds a way to end this nightmare, I am
sure that I would do whatever I had to, to end my immortal life.
WRITING & CORRECTIONS 1:
In the reading "Extreme Perception and Animal Intelligence" by authors Temple
Grandin and Catherine Johnson, two striking examples of high animal intelligence are
highlighted. These examples shed light on how animals can exhibit remarkable
problem-solving skills by utilizing their exceptional sensory perception and cognitive
abilities.
The first compelling example featured in the text revolves around Seizure Alert Dogs.
These dogs possess an extraordinary ability to predict seizures in humans before they
occur, a phenomenon that remains a mystery to scientists. These animals demonstrate
an exceptional level of cognition by utilizing their heightened sensory perception,
allowing them to detect subtle signs of impending seizures that often go unnoticed by
humans. Remarkably, a study has revealed that most seizure alert dogs are not trained
to respond to seizures but rather develop this ability on their own, demonstrating their
unique problem-solving skills.
The subsequent example delves into the case of Clever Hans, a horse whose owner
believed could apparently perform mathematical calculations. Hans would tap his hoof
to indicate answers to mathematical questions, creating the illusion of counting.
However, a psychologist's investigation exposed that Hans was not actually counting
but rather responding to subtle cues from humans. It was only when the questioners
were in plain view and already knew the answers that Hans could provide the correct
responses. What makes this example particularly intriguing is the fact that no one has
ever been able to train a horse to exhibit this kind of behavior. This suggests a high
level of intelligence, as Hans was not merely following commands but instead was
observing and interpreting unconscious cues from humans.
What ties these examples together is the fact that both Seizure Alert Dogs and Clever
Hans exhibited behaviors that were not typically attributed to their respective species.
Additionally, the realization that these animals required some level of human interaction
to achieve their talents and then independently decide to use these obvious skills
further underscores the signs of high intelligence present in these remarkable
creatures.

A human being once said, “someone who is cruel to animals cannot be a good
person.”. In conclusion, the reading by Grandin and Johnson underscores the
extraordinary abilities of animals, such as Seizure Alert Dogs and Clever Hans, in
utilizing their heightened sensory perception and viable skills to solve complex
problems. These examples challenge our understanding of animal intelligence and
reveal the remarkable ways in which animals can adapt and excel in their interactions
with the human world.

WRITING & CORRECTIONS 2:
Imagine being immortal and living in 2175. Sounds crazy, right? Hello, my name is
Stephanie and that's my life for those reading this... my diary. Well... It all started on a
summer morning in 2030, when I woke up because a impetuous alarm began to sound
on my phone. I told my AI assistant to read the alert and she said that it was from the
government and it was sent to all people in the country, then she started to read the
message and told me that the vaccines against death were ready and people over 30
were the only that could get vaccinated. I asked Mar, my assistant to give me more
information about it because it sounded utterly crazy, but she told me that it was not a
disparate idea as it sounded. It was only a vaccine against every mortal disease and
infection, that could also extend our lives for approximately 20 more years. And, we
believed in those lies as innocent as a lamb.
Of course, that was not true, and it ended up being a trick from the government to
keep the economy active with the many jobs and careers we could have in the future.
That is why I am now here, a 180-year-old woman, with a 23-year-old woman
appearance, because I got vaccinated, believing in the government's words. Returning
to the present, I can only tell you that being immortal is not as awesome as some
people might think it is, to the contrary, it is like a nightmare, it is really worrisome, but
once you make the decision, it is utterly done for you. I can not say I suffered the first
years, because I had fun with my family and friends until those who radically made the
decision not to get vaccinated, currently died by the past of time... Of course, I just had
to deal with that, but fortunately, I had my partner, who was immortal too, and we
made our lives, unfortunately, the problems started, and he decided to divorce, and
now I'm feeling blue because he has a new wife, and a family, which made and makes
me feel loveless until now because I have never loved as I loved him. Now, in my eyes,
the grey clouds cry drops of rain.
On the other hand, I can tell you that, I am an engineer, chef, and French teacher, I
have always been indecisive, so one of the advantages of being immortal is that you
can do and be whoever you want. For now, I have decided not to have kids, because
even though there are many good things about being immortal, at a certain point, your
life starts to get boring, and as it happened to me, my life just stopped having a
purpose, I feel loveless and I can not even explain to you how immeasurably miserable
my life is now, and I think having kids would only be a selfish decision, I would never
want my kids to feel the way I feel, and I am sure that this feeling is inevitable I just
want to end by saying that my worst decision was getting vaccinated with that vaccine,
full of tricks and lies from part of the government. I am sure that many people share
the same feeling. Anyway, I hope someday I can find any sense in my life, and some
love. I think no one deserves to feel like this, and if someone ever finds a way to end
this nightmare, I am sure that I would do whatever I had to, to end my inmortal and
insufferable life.
