LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 2

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to;


1. use demonstrative pronouns in sentences (this/that, these/those); and
2. identify the demonstrative pronouns based from the given sentences and pictures.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Demonstrative Pronoun


Sources: Internet, ADM English 2, EN2G-IVc-d-4.2.3
Materials: Laptop, TV/Projector, Pictures, Strips, Cartolina, Marker

III. PROCEDURE

DRILL: Read the following sentences and identify the pronouns used.

1. She loves to sing.


2. It is my pencil.
3. They are my classmates.
4. He is my brother.
5. I like to eat pizza.

LESSON PROPER

MOTIVATION

Show pictures. Let the students tell if the following objects are near or far from the
person?

A. ACTIVITY

Group the class into four. Give each group placards, labeled "THIS," "THAT,"
"THESE," and "THOSE" on both sides. Show pictures with incomplete sentences.
Instruct them to read the sentences and supply the correct answer by raising their
placards.

2. _____ is a ball.

3. _____ are balls.

4. _____ are balls.


B. ANALYSIS
What have you observe on the picture? What words did we use to complete the
sentences? Do you know what they are called?

C. ABSTRACTION

Demonstrative Pronouns
- are words that are used in pointing thing/s, animal/s, person/s whether they are near
or far from the speaker. It can be a singular or a plural, it may be near or far.

There are four demonstrative pronouns: This, That, These and Those.

1. This - is used in pointing one person or object that is near the speaker.

Example : This is my bag.

2. That - is used in pointing one person, animals or object that is far from the speaker.

Example: That is my house.

3. These - is used to point more than one person, things or animals that is near from
the speaker.

Example: These are my toys.

4. Those - is used to point more than one person, things or animals that is far from the
speaker

Example - Those are birds.

Assessing Comprehension

Activity 1. Choose the correct demonstrative pronouns in each sentence.Write this or


that to complete the sentence.

1. ______ is my pet cat.

2. _______ is an airplane.

3. _______ is a ball.

4. _______ is a my friend.

5. ______ is my umbrella.
Activity 2. Look at the pictures. Underline the correct answer inside the parentheses.

1. (These, Those) are my bags.

2. (These, Those) are butterflies.

3. (These, Those) are mangoes.

4. ( These, Those) are trees.

D. APPLICATION

Now, we are going to have a group activity! I am going to group you into two.
For the 1st group- Fill in the blanks with the correct answer using demonstrative
pronoun (This, That, These or Those) based on the pictures provided.

3. _______ are my crayons.

4. _______ is an airplane.

For the 2nd group- Choose an appropriate demonstrative pronoun to complete each
sentence. Choose your answer from the box.
