LP Science 8pdigestivesystem Complete Bee2a
I.OBJECTIVES
During and after the 40 minutes, the students should be able to:
a. the students will be able to identify and recall the names and functions of the organs in the
digestive system, including mouth, esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, and large
intestine.
b. demonstrates the proper technique for chewing and swallowing food to aid in the mechanical
breakdown of the food in the mouth before it is passed along the digestive system; and
c. appreciates the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle on maintaining proper digestive function
and overall health.

PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Greetings Good morning, Good morning, PowerPoint

2. Prayer
Before we begin (Students
let us have a short stood up, bow
prayer. May I ask their heads,
everyone to and pray)
please stand and
bow their heads.
Miss Jacob,
please lead the
prayer.

MINUTES 1. Recall We had our
discussion last
meeting, right?
A.Understanding
the basic structure
and function of the
digestive system
C.Appreciating
how food gets
broken down into
nutrients and how
these nutrients are
used by the body.
D.Identifying
factors that can
affect digestion
and how to
maintain a healthy
digestive system.
E.Recognizing the
importance of a
balanced diet and
good nutrition for
overall health and
wellbeing.
I have here a
chart, and all you
must do is to
encircle the words
that you think
belong to the parts
of the digestive
system. I will
separate you into
two groups and
decide who will be
going to encircle
the words and tell
the class why it
belongs to the
parts of the
digestive system,
understood? Yes, Teacher.
Our activity
entitled “Encircle

class. If you don’t
eat, you will lose
your energy.
Now, we will be
going to discuss
the parts of our

SYSTEM

DIGESTIVE
SYSTEM
What is a
digestive
system?
-It is composed of
the mouth,
esophagus,
stomach,
pancreas, liver,
small intestines,
and large
intestine. The
process of
breaking down the
food into a form
that can be
absorbed for use
by the body is
called digestion.
Digestion starts in
the mouth. The
teeth cut and grind
the food. Saliva, a
liquid in the mouth
moistens the food
and changes
starch to sugar.
The ptyalin as an
enzyme in saliva
helps in the
digestion of starch.
When the food is
swallowed, it
enters the
esophagus, a
long muscular
tube that starts
from the back of
the throat and
ends in the
stomach. The
food is pushed
down the
esophagus into
the stomach by
rhythmic, wave-
like muscle
movement known
as peristalsis.
The food then
travels to the
stomach, a
muscular pouch
that secretes
gastric juice. In the
stomach, the food
is broken down
into smaller
pieces. The
pancreas
produces and
secretes digestive
enzymes that aid
in the breakdown
of carbohydrates,
proteins, and fat in
the small intestine
to support the
process of
digestion. Liver, a
large organ
located in the
upper right part of
the abdomen,
beneath the
diaphragm and on
top of the
stomach, right
kidney, and
intestines. It
performs many
important
functions in the
body, including
filtering blood,
producing bile to
help digest fats,
storing and
releasing glucose
for energy,
producing certain
proteins, and
helping to remove
toxins from the
body. The food
goes down into
small intestines,
a 7-meter coiled
long tube in the
lower abdomen
where food is
finally digested
and absorbed.
Undigested food
goes to the large
intestine.
The large
intestine is also a
temporary storage
of water. The
feces which are
the waste product
of digestion are
stored in the lower
part of the large
intestine called
rectum. The
rectum stores this
water until is
eliminated through
the anus.
Alright class, do
you understand
the parts of the
digestive system?
Alright, Very Good. Yes Sir.
ELABORATE (Students apply the information learned in the Explain through doing more activities.)

Enumeration
EXTEND (Deepen conceptual understanding through use in a new context, transfer the learning in
practical application.)
Direction: Search
the “Human Body

and draw it in a
short coupon
bond. Write a short
description under
the drawing.
