Given two points P(x1, y1) and Q(x2, y2), then the
distance between P and Q is given by the formula

Determine the distance between J(-5, 1) and W(3, 7).

Use the distance formula. d= x2 − x1 2 + y2 − y1 2

Substitute the coordinates of J 2 2


JW = 3 − (−5) + 7−1
and W for (x1, y1) and (x2, y2).

JW = 8 2 + 6 2
Simplify.
JW = 64 + 36
JW = 100

Determine the distance between H(5, -1) and C(-3, 3).

the midpoint M of PQ is given by the formula

be assigned a group number.
• Using a randomizer, the first group will choose a
category. The question will be opened, and all groups
will answer the question.
• The students will raise their answer to the question
using their iPad/whiteboard/paper after the set time.
