Q1. (a) From the Coulomb’s Law, define electric field intensity. Calculate the electric (10)
field at points on an axis for a ring of positive charge.
(b) State Gauss law and write down mathematical formulation of the law for an (08)
arbitrary closed surface.
(c) State conservative property of the electrostatic field. For the given nonuniform (12)

Q2. (a) Define electric dipole. Find out potential of an electric dipole. (10)

(c) Derive Laplace’s and Poisson’s equations. (11)
Q3. (a) Write Ampere’s circuital law for magnetic field. Using Ampere’s circuital law, (12)

a coaxial cable.
(b) State Stoke’s theorem and demonstrate it. (08)
(c) What is vector magnetic potential? Derive the equations for vector magnetic (10)
potentials and magnetic fields of a parallel wire transmission line.

(b) State Poynting’s theorem. Derive the integral form of the Poynting’s theorem for (15)

(b) Solve Helmholtz equation for lossy dielectric and compose the equation of (15)
electric and magnetic field. From these equations explain the heating mechanism
of microwave oven.
(c) Let the current = 80 be present in the direction on the z-axis in free (09)
space within interval -0.1<z<0.1m. Find Az at P(0,3,0).
Q6. (a) Write down the properties of a uniform plane wave. (06)
(b) Prove that a linearly polarized wave is sum of two circularly polarized wave of (12)
