Quick Start Instructions

NOTE: This program is being monitored by a security device which tells me who and how many times this valuable file is being downloaded. YOU paid for access to it. Which means you're entitled to this software. No one else is. And letting any unauthorised parties use this software will result in you losing access to it. So please keep this program to yourself and keep it for your own use. It saves embarrassment later on.

Create Estimate

Congratulations on purchasing Eazi-Est, the simple and easy to use estimating program. It will no doubt save you many hours of paperwork and endless punching numbers on a calculator.

The first thing I would recommend that you do is make a master copy of this program and save it in another folder on your computer and call it "Eazi-Est Master Copy" or something similar. This is simply a precaution should you accidentally delete the file by mistake. Remember to save your work every 5 - 10 minutes. It is very easy to get engrossed in your estimate and forget to save it.

REMEMBER: Enable macros so the program will calculate the totals correctly.
The next step would be to click on "File" and then "Save As" and name your estimate something relevant, like Mr Smith New House and save it. It would also be a good idea to create a folder called "Estimates" and you can then save all you estimates to this folder for easy finding. You can then go back to the estimate if you are pricing a similar contract and change the details to suit and save again using the new project name.

Instructions
You may move from worksheet to worksheet by clicking on the dark blue tabs located at the bottom of each worksheet. You can return to the instruction page at any time by Clicking on the "Instructions" button at the top of each page. To create a new estimate, click on the Create Estimate button above. You will then be taken to the estimate page. You can "Rename" the Estimate tab by right clicking on your mouse button on the tab labelled estimate at the bottom of the screen and select Rename. You can then enter in the name of the section you want to create. You may need to create more than one section when doing an estimate so you can Create a new section by clicking once on the Create Section button. When you type in the name for the new section it will automatically be added to the tabs at the bottom of the page. You can easily navigate between each section by simply clicking on the tabs. Each section you create will be totalled up in the Total Summary page. On the Total Summary page you will also see a representation of your estimate as a pie chart for easy analysis.

To add materials to any section a box named Favourite Materials at the top of the estimate shows one item from the favourite materials list. Click on the material once, and a drop down menu button will appear. Click on the button to show your materials list.Simply scroll down the list to see the item you require. Click on it once, and it will be displayed. Then click Copy Material and it will be added to your section. You can add items to your favourite materials list by simply clicking on Create New Entry button, filling in the description, cost & fit time You can also simply enter any details directly into any section as you require, entering the description cost and fit time.

Fit Times. What is a fit time. Fit time is the length of time it would take you to do a particular task. Eg fitting a double socket or laying a tile. Fit times are used for every task you can think of to complete your project. For example installing electrical cable could be installed at 1 min per meter. So if you have 200 meters in the job and it takes 1 minute to install 1 meter of it, you would insert 0.016 as the fit time with 200 as the quantity. and the total fit time for this quantity would be 3.2 hours. The fit time is enetered as a decimal. To work this out divide the number of minutes you would estimate a task would take (in minutes) and divide it by 60. Eg 5 mins = 5 divided by 60 = 0.8 .This will give you the decimal minutes. See table below.

Time Saving Tip: If you have similar materials in different sections within the estimate, you can simply highlight copy and paste your selection into any section within the estimate.

Time to complete task. 1 min 2 mins 5 mins 10 mins 15 mins 30 mins 1 hour

Fit Time 0.016 0.033 0.8 0.17 0.25 0.5 1

Totals Summary Click on the totals summary tab and you will be taken to the Totals Summary page which will show you a summary of all the sections within the estimate. The Total Summary page will only show the net labour time and material time on this page taken from each section. You can then enter your required labour rate and percentage profit on the Total Summary page MCD This is Main Contractors Discount. It is typically a discount (usually 2.5%) applied to a quotation which a main contractor takes for payment of your account within 30 days. Printing Your Estimate To Print a Section or Page. Simply go to any page select File, Print and select active worksheet button, then Print. To print whole estimate select File, Print and then select entire workbook. You can also select which pages to print. Note that when you are printing the whole estimate, you can omit to print pages 1&2 as these are only the instruction pages.
