The Workings Of The Mind

Ext holes bay day

Person speaking: Welcome to my documentary, which delves into the

frequently misinterpreted field of mental health. We're going to take a
tour through the workings of the mind in the next few minutes,
illuminating the struggles that millions of people worldwide endure.

Life can feel like a long and endless dark tunnel however, amidst all of
the chaos and stress, there is always light. There is always hope.
Mental health is not just the absence of illness, it is the presence of
resilience, of courage, of hope.

Self-care is a need, not an extravagance. It is the act of giving our

bodies and minds the care they need in a world that frequently expects
too much from us while providing little in the way of rewards.

One of the biggest barriers to addressing mental health issues is the

fear of judgment and discrimination. Self-care is a need, not an option.
It is the act of giving our bodies and minds the care they need in a
world that frequently expects too much from us while providing little in
the way of rewards. It is a bold act of self-love, a proclamation that
we are deserving of forgiveness, understanding, and healing. One of the
biggest barriers to addressing mental health issues is the fear of
judgment and discrimination. Many people suffer in silence because they
worry about being labeled as "crazy" or "weak."

Narrator: But the truth is, mental health challenges can affect anyone,
regardless of age, gender, or background. They are not a reflection of
weakness, but rather a testament to the complexity of the human
experience. It's a common misconception that mental health issues are
something to be ashamed of, but the reality is that seeking help is a

sign of strength, not weakness.

Mind.org states that one in four people will experience some kind of
mental health problem each year in the United Kingdom alone. Mind also
states that one in six people will experience a common mental health
problem like anxiety and depression in any given week. Let me repeat
that. One in four will experience a mental health problem each year.
That could include you, your friends, your parents, your family or
anybody. This shows that you are really not alone or ‘weird’ or ‘crazy’.
You really don’t have to be embarrassed to find help.

Talking about your personal feelings isn’t for everyone and that's ok.
Nobody is forcing you to be open about everything. But if you're ready
and comfortable, it's always ok to talk to somebody you trust.

Whenever I am struggling or feel overloaded or stressed out, I always

like to seek nature. Whenever I get the chance, I like to get out and
escape from everything. I sometimes cycle, take walks or even take
photographs. For me, being outside in nature is a means of escape. This
may be harder for some people than others if they are stuck in a large
city; however, there are still many different methods that you can do to
take your mind off things.

These things could be watching your favorite film, playing your favorite
game, seeing your mates, spending time with family or doing whatever it
is that brings you comfort.

Maintaining positive mental health is important for our overall well-

being. It involves taking care of our mind and emotions to feel good and
cope with life's challenges. One way to keep a positive mindset is by
staying connected with supportive friends and family. Talking about our
feelings and concerns with trusted people can help us feel understood
and less alone. It's also essential to find healthy ways to manage
stress, like taking breaks, exercising, or practicing relaxation
techniques such as deep breathing or meditation. Getting enough sleep
and eating nutritious foods can also contribute to good mental health,
as our physical well-being often affects our mood. Setting realistic
goals and celebrating small achievements can boost our self-esteem and
motivation. Additionally, engaging in activities we enjoy, whether it's
hobbies, sports, or spending time in nature, can uplift our spirits and
provide a sense of purpose. Learning to recognize and challenge negative
thoughts can also improve our mental outlook. Sometimes seeking
professional help from therapists or counselors is necessary, and it's

important to remember that asking for support...

...is a sign of strength, not weakness. By taking proactive steps to

nurture our mental health, we can cultivate resilience and positivity in
our lives.

I really think that as a society, we need to do alot more to prioritise

our own mental health and the mental health of the people around us. I
think we have to forget the phrase ‘work life balance’ and focus on
having a ‘life work balance’. Your life is the number one priority. You
are human and you need to remember that you are not owned by the company
you work for or the school that you go to. You are not some machine that
is designed to be professional 24/7. We all make mistakes, we all can
get overloaded, and we can get stressed out.
Finding ways to relax and take your mind off things can be challenging
therefore I want to hear what other people do to keep up their positive
mental well being.
