MATHEMATICS

UNIT
1. Relation and function: Types of relations reflexive, symmetry, transitive and
equivalence relations. Equivalence class. One-one and onto function, composite of
functions, inverse of function, Binary operation.

2. Calculus:
(i) Limit of function, continuity & differentiation, derivative of composite function, and
differentiation of different types of function. Chain rule, roles theorem and Lagrange
mean value theorem, Maclaurins & Taylor’s series. L. Hospitals rule, partial
differentiation, successive differentiation, Leibnitz theorem, equation of tangent &
normal to a give curve, maxima, minima, increasing & decreasing function.

(ii) Integration: Various methods of integration, definite integration as a limit of sum,


basic property of definite integration & evaluation of definite integrals. Application
of in finding the area under simple curves of sphere cones & cylinders.

(iii) Differential equations: Order and degree of a differential equations, formation of


differential equations whose general solution are given. Solution of differential
equations of first order & first degree. Linear differential equations with constant
coefficients. Homogeneous differential equations.

3. Trigonometry: Trigonometry equations, property of triangle, inverse circular


functions, Height & distance, Complex numbers, D-movers theorem & its application,
nth roots of unity .
UNIT
1. Co-ordinate geometry of two dimensions:
Equation of the pair of straight line in homogeneous and non-homogeneous form .
Condition when homogeneous form. Condition when non-homogeneous 2nd degree
represents circle, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola. Equation of tangent & normal to the
above conics. Common tangent two conics, pair of tangents, Chord of contents. Polar
lines to above the conics.

2. Vector and three dimension geometry:


(i) Vectors: Vector & scalars. Unit vectors, direction cosine of vector. Multiplication of
vector by scalars, dot product, cross product of vector and their in physics and
moment, angular velocity, projection of a vector on a line. Angle between two
vectors.

(ii) Vector differentiation, gradient, divergence, curl, and first order vector identities.
Direction derivative with application.

(iii) Vector integration, line integration, surface & volume integration, Green’s theorem,
Gauss-divergence theorem, Stokes’s theorem.

(iv) Three dimensions geometry: Direction cosine of line joining two points, Cartesian
and vector equation of line. Coplanar and skew lines, shortest distance between two
line, Cartesian and vector equation of a plane. Angle between two lines & two
planes. Line and plane distance of a point from a plane. Intersection of two lines,
Intersection of a line of plane & Intersection of two planes. Equation of a plane
passing through the Intersection of two planes.

(v) Equation of sphere, cones & cylinder.


UNIT
1. Algebra:
(i) Matrices: Type of matrices, zero matrix, transpose of a matrix, symmetry and skew
symmetry matrix. Addition, multiplication & scalar multiplication of matrix. Singular
and non-singular matrix. Invertible matrices.

(ii) Determinants: Determinants of square matrices. Property of determinants, adjoin


and inverse of a square matrix. Consistency and number of solutions of system of
linear equations by example. Solving system of equations at most three variables.

(iii) Theory of equations of degree greater than or equal to two. Arithmetical,


Geometrical and Harmonically progressions. Permutations and combinations,
Bionomical theorem. Sum of exponential and logarithmic series.

(iv) Probability, multiplication theorem on probability, conditional probability,


Independent events. Total probability and Bayes theorem distribution.

2. Statics: Equilibrium of a body under the action of-three force, coplanar forces,
Equilibrium of a body under the action of a system of coplanar forces, Center of gravity
catenary, Fraction.

3. Dynamics: Motion of projectile in vertical plane under gravity, Work power and
energy, Direct impact of smooth bodies, Radial and transverse velocity and acceleration.
Tangential and normal acceleration.
UNIT
1. Group: Examples- especially the group of nth roots unity, Group of residue class
modulo n and modulo p where p is a prime. Subgroup, Homomorphism and
isomorphism, Property of homomorphism. Subgroup generated by a subset, Order of an
element in a group, Cyclic group, Symmetric group – Sn. Lagrange theorem, Fermat
theorem with application, Normal subgroup, fundamental theorem of homomorphism,
Endomorphism, Automorphism, First isomorphism theorem and second isomorphism
theorem.
Ring and field with simple example.

2. Linear Algebra: Vector space with example, subspace, linear dependence and
independence, Basis and dimension of vector space, Quotient space, sum and direct
slim of spaces. Linear transformation, kernel and image, of a-linear transformation, Rank
and nullity of linear trans formation, Rank nullity theorem. Composite of liner
transformation and its rank & nullity. Singular and non-singular linear transformation,
Transpose, of a linear transformation, Matrix of a linear transformation .Vector
differentiation: Gradient, Divergence, curl, first order vector identities. Directional
derivatives (With application point of view).

3. Riemann Integration: Integration of discontinuous functions, lower and upper


integrals of abounded function, Integration of a step function and signum function.
