UNIT 4

EVALUATING MULTI-
MODAL TEXTS AND
MESSAGES
At the end of this lesson, you are
expected to:
• 1. recognize the different types of texts reflecting different cultures,
• 2. evaluate messages/images of different types of text reflecting
different culture,
• 3. identify the qualities of an effective message,
• 4. enumerate the different multi-modal messages,
• 5. know the factors to consider in creating an effective message,
and
• 6. create a multi-modal Public Service Announcement (PSA) of a
cause-oriented event
Springboard Activity:
Synchronous
• 1. Look at the pictures in the proceeding slides and give your
reactions or comments regarding that message.
• 2. Give your reasons for such reactions or comments.

What is a message?
• It is a discrete unit of communication intended by the source
for consumption by some recipient or group of recipients.

• It may be delivered by various means including courier,


telegraphy, carrier pigeon and electronic bus

• An interactive exchange of messages forms a conversation.

1. Students will be grouped through break-out rooms and assigned an image to evaluate. For 5 minutes, they will brainstorm to come up with their evaluation.

• In groups of five to six, plan and prepare your own Public
Service Announcement (PSA) in the following asynchronous
class time and post in the class’ Facebook page for submission
and viewing.
