METHOD STATEMENT

FOR PLASTERING
1. Scope:
This procedure relates the plastering activities and these required properties including
mortar and reinforcement accessories.

2. REFERENCE DOCUMENTS
Documents establish by the contractor
A. Execution documents (SBG/SENLABO BTP)
 Dar specifications 09220
 Material test report
 Design mix of mortar

B. Documents du Plan Quality (SBG/SENLABO BTP)

 ITP
 NCR
3 Acceptance criteria’s of mixed mortar
 Bending strength around 1N/mm2
 Compressive strength not less than 5±1N/mm2
 Minimum cement sand mix 1:3-4
 Duration of ready mixed mortar 2h
 Stickiness 20 mm three coat-mix

4 Acceptance criteria’s of finish surface

Tolerance:
 Vertical surface daily work 13.4 m2
 Horizontal and other non vertical surface 9.3m2
 Plasterwork panels limited to ratio width /length 2-1/2:1
 For vertical line and surface do not varied from plumb by more than 6.4 mm in 3 m;
 For vertical line such as corner door and expansion joint and control joint do not vary
from plumb by 3 mm in 3m
5 PREVIOUS OPERATIONS
 Cleaning the surfaces of slab wall and concrete structure where the plastering
will be executed
 scarified if it is smooth
 wet surfaces during hot weather

6 MANPOWER
 Site engineer
 Surveyor
 Foreman
 Masons
 Helpers/ labors

7 MASONRY EQUIPMENT
 scaffoldings with complete accessories and approved by the engineer
 Tooling of masonry (trowel, plumb line, and hammer, Ruler, niveau….)
 Mortar contains, Brush, sponge
 Mortar mixer
Material
 Approved and tested sand
 Cement
 Admixture
 Reinforcement and accessories

8 PROCEDURES PLASTERING LAYING AND REINFORCEMENT

 Cleaning all faces patches holes and honeycombs

 Chip smooth surfaces of concrete structure to give adherence of the mortar

 Chip bended surfaces of concrete structure to give straits alignment

 Base –coat of wall and concrete structure : Lay fluid cement mortar mixed with
water in a dosage around 500kg/m3 (1 part cement to 2 part of aggregate and
sand)
 check the plumpness and put some bench mark for the alignment
 lay the appropriated reinforcement accessories at required locations (angle, edges
joints , connection to concrete or steel structures )
 Lay the 2nd bed of mortar in a dosage around 400kg/m3 of cement ( 1 part of cement
to 2 part of sand) in a stickiness of 10 mm this bed don’t need to be smooth.
 24h of curing with water
 lay the final bed of mortar with a dosage of 400kg/m3 of cement (1 part of cement 3
part of sand )
 the final bed must be well finished to achieve approved design surface for plastering
 clean all loses material
 cure during 36 hours to prevent cracks or color variation
 protect against dust, hot weather, men reach and injuries until required strength is
attaint
