My Learning Episode Overview


My first episode will explain the expectation of my Teacher Education Institution
St. Thomas More School of Law and Business and my Cooperating School Don
Ricardo Briz Central Elementary School. This will allow me to be better understand
the do’s and don’ts of teaching in the real workplace. The orientation conducted by my
practicum supervisor and the cooperating principal will ensure my success as a student
intern.

My Tasks (Activities)

B. After my orientation session with my practicum supervisor and cooperating

My Analysis
Complete the structured frame.
Orientation sessions are conducted because we want to be informed and
reminded about the rules and regulations that the institution established. It also
conducted to ensure and clarify any concepts of misunderstanding about a certain rule
or policy that must be abided by us Pre-Service Teachers when we are deployed.

Orientations like this raises awareness about the guidelines, things that must be
done for both parties throughout the internship journey of the Pre-Service Teachers in
the institution.

I need to follow the policies and procedures of the cooperating school so that I
can hold up or raise the level of my educational institution and I could bring pride and
honor of my department as we are following these rules and policies that was imposed.
But by concept it is really necessary to follow those policies because we want to
respect and build a good relationship towards our partner institution.

All of us Pre-Service have this doubts if we’re prepared to teach pupils. For me, I am
not fully prepared to teach pupils, because pupils are diverse and i might not know at the
start on how to deal with them. But as a future teacher, it is our skill to be flexible and
adaptable in every situations that we are partaking.

Likewise I also have my expectations that I need to convey to my cooperating
teacher in order that my needs are also met and understood.
 Cooperating Teacher can give valuable feedbacks and comments regarding my
lesson plan.

B. In the observation phase, I need to do the following:


 Observe the classroom management the CT has done.
 Get an overview of the students’ behavior.
 Acquire list of pupils and seat plan to have an easy memorization of the
students.
C. To fully equip myself to better understand my cooperating teacher, I need to know

My Analysis
In my first encounter with my cooperating teacher, I realized that:
 She is not really an outright strict person, but she has this aura of someone
who has an authority.
 She is a busy person because she is a Master Teacher II.
 She has a passion for teaching, the way she presents herself to the
students’ you can feel a motherly way of teaching.
 She is calm and collected when teaching, she can easily incorporate
activities or examples found within the classroom.
 Despite the short period of time being with the students’, she already had a
bond and respect with the students.

This episode describes my second home. It showcases the different facilities and
learning resources of my cooperating school. Visiting these places in my cooperating
school will enable me to utilize these resources to make the teaching-learning process
more meaningful. Being aware of these facilities in my cooperating school will give me a
sense of belongingness- for this is my second home.
