b. Development of a barcode scanning application for inventory tracking and management.
c. Creation of an inventory optimization tool to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
d. Integration of inventory replenishment algorithms and vendor management features.

4. Point of Sale (POS) System

a. Design and development of a touchscreen POS system for restaurants or cafes, including menu
management and order processing features.
b. Implementation of a mobile POS application for retail stores to accept payments and manage
inventory on-the-go.
c. Creation of a POS system with customer relationship management (CRM) functionality,
including loyalty programs and customer feedback.
d. Integration of POS terminals with payment gateways and accounting software for seamless
transaction processing and financial reporting.
These project titles/topics offer students the opportunity to apply their software engineering skills in
real-world scenarios related to financial accounting, finance, inventory management, and point of sale
systems. Each project can be assigned to a group of 3 to 4 members, allowing for collaboration and
teamwork in the development process.

Project Guidelines
Following are guidelines for students to prepare a project proposal for their selected topics in Financial
Accounting, Finance, Inventory Management, and Point of Sale (POS) systems:
1. Title and Introduction:
Begin with a clear and concise title that reflects the nature of the project.
Provide an introduction to the project, outlining its purpose, objectives, and significance in
addressing real-world problems in the chosen domain (e.g., financial accounting, finance,
inventory management, POS).
Submission Date for Title & Introduction (1 to 2 pages typed): 15-04-2024
2. Background and Context:
Offer a brief overview of the selected topic, highlighting its relevance and importance in the
field of software engineering and business management.
Discuss any existing software solutions or systems related to the topic and identify gaps or
limitations that the proposed project aims to address.

3. Project Objectives:
Clearly state the specific objectives and goals of the project, emphasizing what the software
application intends to achieve and the problems it aims to solve.
Define measurable outcomes or deliverables that will demonstrate the success of the project
upon completion.

4. Scope and Features:

Define the scope of the project, outlining the functionalities and features that the software
application will include.
Specify the target users or stakeholders of the application and their requirements in terms of
usability, performance, and scalability.

5. Methodology:
Describe the approach or methodology that will be followed to develop the software application
(e.g., agile development, iterative prototyping).
Outline the key stages or phases of the development process, including requirements gathering,
design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

6. Technical Requirements:
Identify the technologies, tools, and programming languages that will be used to develop the
software application.
Discuss any specific technical challenges or constraints that may need to be addressed during the
development process.

7. Project Timeline:
Create a project timeline or schedule, outlining the major milestones and deadlines for each
phase of the development lifecycle.
Allocate resources and estimate the time required for each task or activity, taking into account
the availability of team members and external dependencies.

8. Resource Allocation:
Specify the human and material resources required for the project, including the roles and
responsibilities of team members.
Identify any external resources or support services that may be needed to complete the project
successfully.

9. Risk Management:
Identify potential risks and challenges that may arise during the project and propose strategies
for mitigating or addressing them.
Discuss contingency plans and alternative approaches to minimize the impact of unexpected
events on project delivery.

10. Conclusion:
Summarize the key points of the project proposal and reiterate its significance in addressing the
identified problem or opportunity.
Express confidence in the feasibility and success of the proposed project, highlighting the
potential benefits for stakeholders and end-users.
By following these guidelines, students can prepare a comprehensive and well-structured project
proposal that effectively communicates their project idea, objectives, methodology, and plan for
implementation.
