GUIDELINES FOR INTERNSHIP TRAINING

GENERAL OBJECTIVES

Internship is a phase of training wherein a learner is expected to learn methods/modalities to conduct


actual practice of medical and health care and acquire skills under supervision so that he/she may
become capable of performing his/her duties adequately and independently.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the Internship Training, the student shall be able to:
1. Gain specific knowledge and observations encountered in Clinical practices.
2. Understand appropriate use of skills and techniques learnt during the phase of internship.
3. Demonstrate skills in monitoring the patients/diseases with clinical corelations.
4. Develop leadership qualities to function effectively as a leader of the health team organized to deliver
the health and family welfare services in existing socio-economic, political and cultural environment.
5. Acquire adequate communication skills for proper interactions with:
a) Patients and Attendants
b) Seniors
c) Peer Group
d) Other paramedical workers

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Students are required to submit the OJT letter at the end of 6th or exit at the 2nd or 4th semester for
the award of degree/ diploma.

2. Along-with the OJT letter, students must submit the report of their ‘On-job training’, mentioning
the work done in different areas also hours contributed in the particular registered hospital / Lab.

3. In case, if a student has started working instead of doing internship, in that case job or placement,
offer letter may be submitted in place of the OJT letter.

4. The time period of the On-Job Training of the student must not be prior than 90 days of
commencement of sixth semester.

OTHER DETAILS;
1. Every student will be required to undergo Compulsory Internship of 6 months so as to be eligible for
the award of the Degree of Bachelor of Vocation in allied healthcare as per university norms.
2. All parts of the Internship shall be done in the registered hospital/Lab/Clinic.
