METHOD STATEMENT

FOR UNLOADING WORK

UNLOADING METHOD

Unloading or material handling is relate to the movement, storage, control and protection
of materials, goods and products throughout the process of manufacturing, distribution,
consumption and disposal. Material handling equipment is the mechanical equipment involved in
the complete system. Material handling equipment is generally separated into four main
categories: storage and handling equipment, Equipment and utensils used for processing or
otherwise handling edible product or ingredients must be of such material and construction to
facilitate thorough cleaning and to ensure that their use will not cause the adulteration of product
during processing, handling, or storage. Equipment and utensils must be maintained in sanitary
condition so as not to adulterate product.

First of all before unloading and handling, clarify the route of equipment to be lifted,
hoisting peripherals, load shape/figure, Proceed with the day's lifting activities only after
coordinating with the civil contractor. Since items that need to be arranged are known, handle
them as early as possible.

Unloading Plan

• First, make ready all the necessary materials.

✓ specifications (capacity, etc.) of provisional heavy equipment of civil works
including usage fees, available time.
✓ vicinity map of project site[to be used to plan the vehicle route]
✓ map of construction site and building plan drawings, building exterior plans,
structural plans.
✓ individual weight of equipment, possible numbers of knocked down components,
shape, availability of base support(list up).
✓ list of heavy materials [*large diameter pipes, piping units, riser units, etc.]
✓ overall schedule of facilities works.
• Find out the optimum route for equipment and materials(within site, within building) by
highlighting and matching the on-site conditions with the drawings.
• Select the machines for heavy lifting of equipment and materials, lifting method within
the site.
✓ hoisting to machine rooms located at the basement.
✓ lifting to high rise floors(each floor).
✓ lifting to the rooftop, tower structure.
✓ hoisting to the trench.
• Reviewing the plan
METHOD STATEMENT
FOR UNLOADING WORK

✓ Ensure that the foundation, plateform deck, or equipment storage area to be

placed are ready. Consult with civil contractor or Engineer if the foundation,
plateform deck, or equipment storage area can be done.
✓ Ensure opening for lifting activities, Consult with civil contractor or design
supervisor if openings on the wall/floor structures(or opening not permitted) can
be done.
✓ Floor reinforcement along lifting route; Consult with civil contractor if floor can
loaded or not and if necessary, decide on the method of floor reinforcement and
execute the plan.
✓ Installing suspension hooks; Set up the hooks at required locations and install
them before concrete pouring.

Unloading or Material Handling Procedure

• Preparation,
✓ Contact the building and related construction works for the lifting date and time,
and resolve work obstacles for that day.
✓ Verify conditions of load delivery. *vehicle transfer, building side transfer.
✓ In case of load lifting from the outside, implement traffic management /safety
barricade method.
✓ Ensure that there are no obstructions to the lifting route (scaffolding, work
stations, etc.).
✓ Check if there are no things on the lifting route that can cause damage during
lifting activities.
✓ Meeting with lifting/mounting contractors
• Unloading Activities
✓ When the equipment has reached the project site, check if all equipment,
scheduled for delivery are accounted for while the equipment are still on the
vehicle.
✓ Indicate further the system and location of the equipment and compare with the
approval drawings.
✓ Verify the quantity with certainty.
✓ Put protective covers immediately after lifting to a temporary location or after
mounting.
✓ Report to the construction supervisor (or project-in-charge) as well as the person
in charge for Taikisha that the lifting activities have been completed.
METHOD STATEMENT
FOR UNLOADING WORK

• Detail Unloading

The unloading process in this project is carried out for heavy and large equipment that
requires heavy machinery for unloading. Examples include the Air Handling Unit and Chiller
Unit. For detailed information on the unloading process, you can refer to the unloading sheet,
and here is the reference for the unloading sheet.

➢ Unloading the unit with an closed container truck

✓ Lifting instructions are placed on a label on the Equipment and on the shipping bag.
✓ Place a clevis pin into the holes provided at the end of each base rail on the unit. Attach
chains or nylon straps through the clevis pins and hook onto a suitable lift truck for
pulling the unit out of the container.
✓ Slowly place tension on the chains or straps until the unit begins to move and then slowly
pull the unit from the container. Be sure to pull straight so the sides do not scrape the
container.
✓ Place a lifting fixture on the forks of the lift truck and reattach the chain or strap. Slightly
lift the front of the unit to remove some weight from the floor of the container. Continue
pulling the unit with an operator on each side to guide the lift truck operator.
✓ Pull the unit until the lifting locations are outside of the container. Place 4 X 4 blocks of
wood under the base rails of the unit. Gently rest the unit on the blocks and remove the
chains and lift truck.
✓ Attach lifting rigging from the crane and slowly complete the removal from the container
then lift up and away.
METHOD STATEMENT
FOR UNLOADING WORK

➢ Unloading the unit with an open container truck.

✓ Lifting instructions are placed on a label on the Equipment and on the shipping bag.
✓ Use spreader bars to avoid lifting chains hitting the chiller. Various methods of spreader
bar arrangements may be used; keeping in mind the intent is to keep the unit stable and to
keep the chains from hitting the chiller and causing damage.
✓ Use shackles for unloading. The shackles should be inserted into the respective holes in
the base frame and secured from the inside.
✓ Use only the lifting holes provided, All lifting holes must be used to prevent the Chiller
swinging and cause damage while lifting the unit
✓ Placement to the foundation, plateform deck, or equipment storage area to be placed
