2. INLAND SERVICE
Maersk Line offers inland mode transport solutions as part of its comprehensive
logistics services. Inland mode transport refers to the movement of cargo
between ports and inland destinations via various modes such as rail, road, and
inland waterways. Maersk Line leverages its extensive network and partnerships
with inland transportation providers to offer seamless door-to-door delivery
solutions for its customers.
This includes arranging for the pickup and delivery of containers from ports to
inland destinations or vice versa, utilizing a combination of rail and trucking
services. By integrating inland mode transport into its logistics offerings,
Maersk Line enhances the efficiency and flexibility of its supply chain
solutions, enabling customers to access a wider range of markets and optimize
their distribution networks.
Additionally, Maersk Line ensures end-to-end visibility and control over the
transportation process, leveraging digital technologies and real-time tracking
systems to monitor cargo movements and provide timely updates to customers.
Overall, Maersk Line's inland mode transport services complement its core
maritime shipping operations, facilitating the smooth flow of goods from origin
to destination.

While Maersk Line's core business is ocean freight, they understand the
importance of seamless logistics across the entire supply chain. That's why they
offer a robust network for inland transportation in India, and likely in other
regions around the world, to move your containerized cargo beyond the ports.
Here's a breakdown of their inland transportation options:
Road Freight:
Trucks are the most common mode for inland transportation, offering flexibility
for point-to-point deliveries over short or long distances. Maersk likely has
partnerships with trucking companies to ensure reliable and efficient movement
of your cargo.
Train Freight:
Trains provide a cost-effective option for large cargo volumes, particularly over
longer distances. Maersk might have established relationships with rail
companies to offer competitive rates and scheduled train services for your cargo
needs.
In specific locations with suitable waterways, Maersk might leverage barges for
inland transportation. This can be a cost-effective and environmentally friendly
option for certain types of cargo on navigable rivers and canals.

3. AIR CARGO
While Maersk Line is primarily known for ocean freight, their air cargo
services under the Maersk brand shouldn't be overlooked. Maersk Air
Freight offers a robust solution to get your urgent or high-value cargo
where it needs to be, quickly and efficiently. They achieve this through a
strategic combination of resources: their own controlled freighter network
for direct control, established partnerships with other airlines for
extensive global reach (over 90 countries!), and their dedicated in-house
airline, Maersk Air Cargo.
Understanding that air cargo needs can vary, Maersk Air Freight
prioritizes flexibility to adapt to your specific requirements. But it's not
just about speed. They focus on keeping costs under control, ensuring
predictable delivery timelines, and providing responsive actions to
address any unexpected issues. Security is also a top concern, with
measures in place to safeguard your cargo throughout its air journey. In
essence, Maersk Air Freight offers a comprehensive air cargo solution
within the Maersk brand, providing a reliable and adaptable service for
your time-sensitive or valuable shipments.
Maersk actually operates under the broader Maersk brand for air cargo
services. Here's a quick rundown:
They utilize:

1. DRY CONTAINERS
Dry containers (DC) are called “dry” because they don't have any temperature
controls — they are basic containers for cargo such as toys and clothes. They
are the most common type of container in the world, with 90% of sea freight
loaded into them, and they come in different shipping container dimensions and
variants:
40-foot Container or 1 FFE: Another very common size, the 40-foot dry
container is designed to carry and store more voluminous cargo rather than
heavy cargo. For example, furniture, steel pipes, paper scrap or cotton.
40 High Cube Container (40HC): These shipping containers are made for
even lighter cargo. 40HC shipping containers have taller dimensions, so you can
fit in more cargo. However, due to weight limitations per container, you cannot
use them for heavier goods

2. REEFER CONTAINER
Maersk is a Danish carrier that has the largest reefer container fleet in the world,
moving a quarter of the world's reefer containers. Maersk built its first
specialized reefer container, the DRAGØR MÆRSK, in 1961, and placed a
record order for 500 in 1975, entering the containerized reefer trade. As of 2022,
Maersk has 504,000 reefer plugs on its 735 vessels, while MSC has 443,000.
Maersk's latest innovation is the Remote Container Management (RCM) system,
which allows customers to monitor temperature, humidity, and CO2. In 2022,
Maersk upgraded more than 80% of its reefer fleet to deliver hourly data to
Captain Peter, reducing the risk of damaged goods and food waste. By the end
of 2023, 90% of the Maersk reefer fleet will support hourly dialog transmission.
Maersk's reefer containers have different temperature ranges depending on
the type of container:
11 | P a g e
Magnum Reefer: -35C to +30C. 40' High Cube star Care™: -30C to +30C. 40'
High Cube Super Freezer: -60C to -10C.
Reefer containers require electricity or fuel to keep going, making them more
expensive to use. A 40' high-cube reefer container is 11.58 meters long, has a
height of 2.50 meters, and an inside width of 2.28 meters. It also has a tare
weight of 3,900 kilos.

1. Dimensions:
Length: 20 feet (6.06 meters) or 40 feet (12.19 meters), similar to standard dry
containers.
Width: Standard width of approximately 8 feet (2.44 meters).
Height: Approximately 9 feet 6 inches (2.89 meters), compared to the standard
height of 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 meters) for dry containers.
2. Door Dimensions:
Width: Standard width of approximately 7 feet 8 inches (2.33 meters).
Height: Approximately 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 meters), similar to standard dry
containers.
3. Capacity:
Internal Volume: The internal volume of a 20-foot high-cube container is
approximately 33 cubic meters (1,165 cubic feet), while a 40-foot high-cube
container has an internal volume of around 76 cubic meters (2,694 cubic feet).
These volumes may vary slightly depending on the manufacturer.
4. Tare Weight:
The tare weight of a high-cube container varies depending on its size and
construction materials. A 20-foot high-cube container typically has a tare weight
of approximately 2,300 kilograms (5,071 pounds), while a 40-foot high-cube
container may have a tare weight of around 3,800 kilograms (8,378 pounds).
5. Material:
High-cube containers are typically constructed from corrosion-resistant steel,
similar to standard dry containers. This ensures durability and protection of
cargo during transportation.
