Definition of Transliteration:

Transliteration is the process of transferring a word from the alphabet of one language
to another. Transliteration helps people pronounce words and names in foreign
languages.

Examples of Transliteration from Holy Quran:


Arabic:

‫َٰم‬
‫ُقِبْسَأِم ُذِهَّللا الَّرَّن ْح ِن الَّر ِحيِم‬
1. ‫ْل ُعو ِبَر ِّب ٱل اِس‬
2. ‫َمِلِك الَّن اِس‬
3. ‫ِإَٰل ِه الَّن اِس‬
4. ‫ِمْن َش ِّر اْلَو ْس َو اِس اْلَخ َّن اِس‬
5. ‫اَّلِذي ُي َو ْس ِو ُس ِفي ُص ُد وِر الَّن اِس‬
6. ‫ِمَن اْلِجَّن ِة َو الَّن اِس‬
Transliteration:
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem
1. Qul a'oozu birabbin Naas
2. Malikin Naas
3. Ilaahin Naas
4. Min sharril waswaasil khannaas
5. Allazee yuwaswisu fee sudoorin Naas
6. Minal jinnati wannaas (End Juz 30)

English:
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

1. Say: I seek refuge with the Lord and Cherisher of Mankind,


2. The King (or Ruler) of Mankind,
3. The God (or Judge) of Mankind, -
4. From the mischief of the Whisperer (of Evil), who withdraws (after his whisper), -
5. (The same) who whispers into the hearts of Mankind, -
6. Among Jinns and among men.
‫ِبۡس ِم ٱِهَّلل ٱلَّر ۡح َٰم ِن ٱلَّر ِح يِم‬
Bismillah hir Rahman nir Raheem

In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

‫شروع کرتا ہوں ہللا تعالٰی کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم واﻻ ہے‬

‫ۡل‬
‫َو ٱ َع ۡص ِر‬
Wal ‘asr

By time,

‫زمانے کی قسم‬

‫ِإَّن ٱِإۡل نَٰس َن َلِفي ُخۡس ٍر‬


Innal insaana lafee khusr
:
Indeed, mankind is in loss,

‫بیشک (بالیقین) انسان سرتا سر نقصان میں ہے‬

‫ۡل‬
‫ِإاَّل ٱَّلِذ يَن َء اَم ُنوْا َو َع ِم ُلوْا ٱلَّص ٰـ ِلَٰح ِت َو َتَو اَص ۡو ْا ِبٱ َح ِّق َو َتَو اَص ۡو ْا ِبٱلَّص ۡب ِر‬
Illal lazeena aamanoo wa ‘amilus saalihaati wa tawaasaw bilhaqqi wa tawaasaw
bissabr

Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other
to truth and advised each other to patience.

‫وں نے) آپس میں حق کی وصیت کی اور ایک‬rr‫یے اور (جنہ‬rr‫وں کے جو ایمان ﻻئے اور نیک عمل ک‬rr‫سوائے ان لوگ‬
‫دوسرے کو صبر کی نصیحت کی‬
