Controller Card
The controller card controls CS 7200 via the USB2 port that communicates with the Ultralight/DIS that runs
on a PC workstation. Via this port, the main controller receives commands for operating the reader, sends
status, errors and other data to the host PC. Then, the controller converts the received commands into HW
commands that are sent to different HW components: DPMT board (SPI via FPGA), Rotaiton (RS232) and
FPGA (SPI and DCMI).
The Arm processor is the “master” for scan process based on inputs from peripherals such as FPGA
readiness, rotation, temperatures, voltages and etc.
The controller card controls the CS 7200 indicaiton LEDs for scanner statuses.
Optical Head
Optical Head contains the following HW components: laser, rotational motor, light collector and erase card.
The Rotation and Laser card, which is part of the controller card, communicates with the main controller
card using RS232 UART.
The communication model is master - slave based, in which the main controller is a master. The master
sends a command and its arguments.
The erase card consists of four LEDs assembled in linear circuitry on the card.
Linear Assembly
The linear assembly is positioned in the scanner chassis. It consists of stepper motor (actuator) that turns a
rotational motor movement into a linear movement to enable the slide block to bring the plate under the
optical head for scanning and erasing.
Covers
The covers consist of two assemblies:
• Top cover that contains the On/Off button and indication LED card
• Bottom cover that contains the scanner name plate and the plate drawer.
• Soft Off implemented when pressing the On/Off button for more than two seconds. The following
processes take place:
• Hard Off implemented when pressing the On/Off button for more that five seconds. CS 7200
performs forced shutdown.
Driver
The driver is a software component that controls CS 7200, and the bridge between the scanner and the
DIS/3rd party viewer. Driver’s main functions include:
• Diagnostics.
Plates
The SC 7200 plates are uniquely designed to work with the CS 7200 scanner.
The plates are available in three sizes: size 0, size 1 and size 2.
The active side of the plate is blue and the non-active side is black with printed label indicating plate size,
and two squares in the opposite corners of the plate to provide indication to the scanner for proper loading of
the plate.
The orientation mark that appears on the sctive side of the plate has two dots inside the C, while the
orientation mark on the non-active side of the plate appears as a black dot:.

18 CS 7200 Troubleshooting
Quick Troubleshooting
Occasionally, malfunctions can occur during use in the event of an incorrect action. An error
message is displayed.
During the scanner power up, system performs a self test: ejects a plate (if left in the scanner) and reports
whether the system is ready for operation or a malfunction is detected.
The detected malfunction is indicated by the scanner LED status and sound notification and/or by an error
message that appears on screen.
When the system functions properly, the LED is green. If the LED color is yellow or red, it indicates an
existance of the malfunction.
IMPORTANT
If an Error Code message is displayed, the malfunction persists or more
serious conditions occur, contact a qualified technician. When you call
the qualified technician have the following information ready:
