JOB DETAILS:

Job Title: Machine Operator


Reports to (Title of Line Manager) Production Supervisor_ Manufacturing
Function: Manufacturing and packing
Working Station: Namanve Industrial park

JOB PURPOSE.
The Machine Operator plays a crucial role in operating and maintaining various production
machines used in the manufacturing plant. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and
efficient operation of the machines while adhering to standard operating procedures (SOPs),
current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP), and other regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Machine Operation:
• Operate production machines, including Injection blowing, filling & Sealing machines,
sterilizers and packaging equipment according to established procedures and safety
guidelines.
• Set up machines and trouble shooting for production runs, ensuring proper calibration
and alignment.
2. Quality Assurance:
• Monitor machine output and product quality during the production process.
• Report any deviations or machine malfunctions to the Production Supervisor promptly.
3. Machine Maintenance:
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines to ensure proper functioning and
prevent downtime.
• Collaborate with the maintenance engineers and production engineers to address any
mechanical, electronic and electrical issues or equipment malfunctions.
4. Material Handling:
• Ensure adequate supply of materials, such as vials, caps, and labels, for the machine's
operation.
• Assist in loading and unloading materials into the machines as needed.
5. Safety and Compliance:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, ensuring a safe working environment for
yourself and others.
• Follow cGMP and other regulatory requirements related to machine operation and
product handling.
6. Record keeping:
• Maintain accurate and timely records of machine operation, production output, and any
issues encountered during the process.
• Complete batch records and documentation as required.

7. Cleaning and Sanitization:


• Clean and sanitize machines and production areas following each production run to
prevent cross-contamination and ensure product integrity.
8. Training and Development:
• Participate in training programs to enhance your technical skills and knowledge of
machine operation and safety procedures.
9. Continuous Improvement:
• Suggest process improvements and participate in lean manufacturing initiatives to
increase machine efficiency and reduce waste.
10. Team Collaboration:
• Collaborate with other team members, including production supervisors and quality
control personnel, to ensure smooth production operations.

ADDITIONAL ROLE INFORMATION:

Education and Professional Requirements: The Minimum education level required


to perform this job:
Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering or in a related field.

Total Minimum No of Years’ Experience Required:


3-5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment in a Machine
operation role.
Additional Skills / Competencies:
• Familiarity with GMP and safety guidelines for machine operation
• Familiarity with sterilization processes and HPR machines is an advantage.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions and procedures.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Ensure cleanliness of machines all the time.
