I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:


a. Identify the electrical tools and Equipment
b. Discuss the uses and function of electrical tools and Equipment
c. Identify appropriate used Electrical tools and Equipment

Topic: Electrical tools and Equipment


Reference: Technology and Livelihood Education Learning module
Materials: Visual aids, actual illustration of the different types of Electrical tools and Equipment

Time Frame: 60 min’s (1h)

III. PROCEDURE

ELECTRICAL TOOLS AND
EQUIPMENT

Screwdrivers

These are tool made of steel hardened and tempered at the tip used to
loosen or tighten screws with slotted heads.

Standard Screwdriver
–
The blade tip wage-shaped and resembles a negative sign. B.

Philips Screwdriver
–
This has a cross tip resembling a positives sign.

Stubby Screwdriver
–
This comes either Standard or Philips screwdriver with short shank and
blade and shorted handle used to turn screws n tight spaces where the
standard screwdriver cannot be used.

Allen Screwdriver/wrench
–
Drive screws with hexagonal Shape.

Hammers
–
Used for driving or pounding and pulling out of nails.

Pliers
–
Tools are made from metal with insulator in the handle and are use for
cutting, twisting, bending, holding and gripping wires and cables.

Combination Pliers
–
Is used for gripping, holding, and cutting electrical wires and cables even
small nails.

Side Cutting Pliers


–
This is used for cutting fine, medium, and big wire and cables’.

Long Nose Pliers


–
This is used for cutting and holding fine wires.

Wire Stripper
–
This is used for removing insulation of medium sized wire ranging from
gauge # 10 to gauge # 16.

Electrician’s Knife –
This is used by linemen to remove insulation of wire and cables in low
and high voltage transmission lines.

Portable Electric Drill


–
A small drilling machine with the chuck
Capacity of ¼ “ to 3/8”. It is used in making holes on metal sheets and
Concrete walls.

Hacksaw
–
This tool is used to cut metal conduit and armoured cable
