HOLIDAY HOMEWORK FOR SUMMER VACATION 2024-25


SUBJECT: ENGLISH

CLASS: III (ENGLISH)


 Do 10 pages handwriting in your Cursive Writing book neatly.
 Read the chapters of your English Reader book and the Rapid Reader book. Learn spellings, meanings
and Q/A of the chapters done in the class.
 Learn and recite the poem Sunrise by heart with voice modulation.
 Activity: 1. Look at the surrounding of your house and describe in 10 sentences. Write this in
your English Grammar notebook as real life Picture Reading.
2. A scarecrow is usually dressed up in old clothes and used materials.
Draw a Scarecrow on A4 size white paper in coherence to the chapter 'Dorothy and the scarecrow'.
Fill the scarecrow with waste/used materials such as old piece of cloth, small sticks, wattles, waste
paper, dry leaves etc and write few sentences about the scarecrow in your own words.
Tips: Draw margin on four sides of the A4 size paper on which you will do the Activity and make it
presentable.

CLASS: IV (ENGLISH)
 Do 10 pages handwriting in your Cursive Writing book neatly.
 Read the chapters of your English Reader book and the Rapid Reader book. Learn spellings, meanings
and Q/A of the chapters done in the class.
 Activity: 1. Early to bed, early to rise/ Makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise!!
You are a student of class-4. One day, during your summer vacation, you have decided to go for a
morning walk with your parents to the nearby area of your house. Write a letter to your friend
describing the beauty of the early summer morning you have noticed during your morning
walk.( Letter to be written in your English Grammar notebook)
Hints: weather (cool/hot), sky, fresh air, flowers, birds, empty roads etc.
2. Make a photo frame with ice cream sticks, paste a family photo of yours with your
grandparents as shown in your Gem's Reader Book's 1st chapter (The First Tremor). Paste the
photo frame on 1/4th of a coloured chart paper and write few sentences on how you spend /
spent your summer break with your grandparents/family.
Tips: Draw margin on four sides of the chart paper on which you will do the Activity and make
it presentable.
CLASS: V (ENGLISH)
 Do 10 pages handwriting in your Cursive Writing book neatly.
 Read the chapters of your English Reader book and the Rapid Reader book. Learn spellings, meanings
and Q/A of the chapters done in the class.
 Activity: 1.Write the new words with meanings from the chapter Oliver in the Country and write
them in an alphabetical order in your English Reader notebook.
2. On a half chart paper, make two columns and draw contrasting pictures of Village life
and City life. Make a comparative study on them by writing 5 points on each in coherence with
the chapter Oliver in the Country.
Hints: peaceful-noisy, natural beauty-pollution, busy-calm, sleepless nights- deep sleep etc.
Tips: Draw margin on four sides of the chart paper on which you will do the Activity and make
it presentable.
