ü The idea of copyright protection emerged with invention of


printing in Europe, which made it for literary works to be
duplicated by mechanical processes instead of being copied
by hand
ü The first copyright Act is the Statute of Anne in 1709 which
ruled exclusive printing rights for the author, not the
publisher
ü Literary and Artistic Property in 1791 in France, in 1837 in
Germany
ü International development: Berne Convention (1886), TRIPS

works they have created or own.

Copyright (or author’s right) is a legal term used to describe


the rights that creators have over their literary and artistic
works.

books, music, paintings, sculpture and films, but also

to be new but the form, be it literary or artistic, in which

physical object. Copyright applies only to the creative
expression of ideas (in many different forms – text, still or
moving pictures, sound works, three-dimensional shapes),
not the ideas themselves

The author is the most important subject of copyright.

The author is the person who directly created the work. In


case there are two or more persons who directly co-create
the work with the intention that their contributions are
combined into a complete whole, those persons are co-
authors. (Article 12a.1 IP Law 2022)
The person who supports, gives comments or provides
materials for others to create a work is not an author or co-
author (Article 12a.2 IP Law 2022)
The person who creates a derivative work from someone
else's work is the author of that derivative work.

Article 42 Law on IP 2022:
The State shall be the holder of copyright to the following works:
a/ Works created by agencies using state budget to order, assign

c/ Works, of which terms of protection have not expired but their
copyright holders die in default of heirs, heirs renounce
