ABOUT Orecorp Tanzania limited nyanzaga gold mining project sengerema is Tanzania’s leading
gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of Orecorp
Tanzania limited, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in
more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of
Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s Southeast of the nearest
point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Sengerema, only 15 Km’s west of the fast-
growing town of sengerema, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. Applications are invited

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:

This Role is aimed for the Fitter Mechanics to use their tools and engineering techniques to maintain,
rebuild and repair mechanical plant machinery and equipment to operational standards. Work
includes the identification of defective or worn out mechanical component or equipment, repair or
replace of worn or faulty component and modifications including use of precision Measuring
instruments to check parts to fit. (Strip/Inspect/Repair and Re-build.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Bachelor degree of Mining engineering
 Form Four Education.
 VETA Trade test Grade one in Mechanical Fitting/Turning Certificate//Full Technician (FTC)
 Must have Manual Transmission Driving Skills

EXPERIENCE:
 A minimum of 2-Years working in Mining Industry /Process, Pumps, Gearboxes, Hydraulics and
Pneumatics.
 Good engineering practice and able to use measuring equipment Essential to have Rotating
equipment experience.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Safety Health and Environment.

Take a lead role in driving the HSE management program within the workplace (Re-Build
Workshop/Outside Section and on shutdowns) of responsibility and deliver the HSE objectives which
Include:
 Driving the zero harm and injuries initiative by actively promoting health and safety awareness
culture.
 Proactively managing and reducing all hazards
 Maintain housekeeping in area of responsibly.
 Driving the safety leading indicators such as safety interventions, PTOs, inspections etc

 Driving the risk assessment process within area of responsibility Use of Take 5 book

 Participate and contribute to the compliance to national and international standards and regulations
such as NEMC, ISO14001, ISO45001, IMIU, OSHAS, ICMI etc
 Monitor and maintain Process plant in accordance with standard guidelines for plant safety,
environment, effectiveness, cleanness, and appearances
 Make Safety as the First Value
 Maintain Zero tolerance on Alcohol and drugs

Execution of Plant and outside section Tasks Take a lead role in:
Take a lead role in:
 Execution of all assigned task at Re-Build workshop and shutdowns activities (planned and
unplanned) to achieve the targeted availability for the plant and supporting operations and other
sections.
 Execution of periodic workshop, plant and outside section related machineries.
 Perform daily assigned tasks by conducting maintenance duties
 Delivering of Quality and quantity of work after execution process
 Constructing and assemble mechanical system, e.g. pumps, gearboxes, eccentric, counter box,
mixer, pinion, Couplings, bushes, Hydraulics and Pneumatics etc.
 Performs shutdowns works
 Performing Alignment
 Inspections of water sources outside section including Dabenco Potable plant.

Main Workshop, SGS lab, Water Treatment Plant Re-Lining Equipment and Waste incinerator
Take a lead role in:
 General inspections and Maintenance
 Performing quarterly maintenance
 Weekly Inspections
 Pump Alignment
 Pre shutdown works

Budgeting and Cost Management:

Take a lead role in:
 Controlling and managing use age of Consumables items.eg PPE
 Taking care of the working tools as ownership to prevent them from damaging
 On time delivery of executed tasks
 Quality and Quantity of the executed tasks
 Come up with new ideas for improvement
Training and Compliances
 Ensure compliances on all trainings/permits required is up to date.

Operational Excellence
 Ensure that operational excellence practices are adhered to e.g. Quality of work
 Identification and execution of improvement initiatives within the task
 Encourage the co-workers on the culture with regards to the vision/mission
 General time management within the workplace
 Maintain discipline

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
 Mechanical drives (pinions, gearboxes, hydraulic drives)
 Large equipment installation and commissioning e.g., Mill gearboxes, MDP, Compressors etc.
 Execution on major plant shutdowns and services.
 Knowledge and experience with plant control systems
 A general knowledge of gold plant production will be an advantage
 Troubleshooting skills are essential
