• Live CCTV Surveillance was planned in all examination centres to curb malpractices in the
examination. The NTA also made arrangements for live viewing of remote locations of all
examination centres from the Control Room located in the NTA premises of New Delhi. Recording
of CCTV Systems was also done.
• The examination centres were also monitored using AI-based Video Analytics and Virtual
Observers.
• In order to stop cheating using mobile networks, Jammers were installed in all the Centres to prevent
unfair practices by the candidates during the examination through mobile or any other electronic
device. The latest 5G Jammers were installed at all examination Centres for the first time.
• NTA has implemented rigorous measures to deter malpractices and ensure the examination's
fairness, such as multistage verification, biometric authentication, EKYC, and frisking of the
candidates, the invigilation staff, and any other associated functionaries. Wherever there were
reports of malpractices, strict action was taken up by the NTA including UFM Committee
recommendations of debarring the candidates for 01 year, 02 years, or 03 years.
• The grievances of the candidates have also been addressed.
• The AI tools were deployed to ascertain the identity of candidates through cross-verifying the photo
on the Admit Card with the live photograph of the candidate that was taken at the examination
center, mandatory frisking, EKYC, etc. The NTA used AI-based analytical tools to identify
suspicious activity during the exam. This involved analyzing exam centre activities or even
reviewing CCTV footage after the exam to flag potential cheating.
• The surprise visits by flying squads to oversee the examination, deployment of full-time Observers,
utilization of AI tools to identify discrepancies in candidates' application details, and matching of
their biometrics and particulars remotely through AI and also by physical thorough invigilation
supervision, have been made to be put in place
The NTA took various steps to ensure candidates were facilitated at every stage of the examination.
The following initiatives were taken by the NTA for the smooth conduct of the examination:
➢ The NTA implemented advanced, secure online systems for registration, application, and result
processing. This ensured a smooth and efficient operation, significantly reducing the time and
effort required by candidates and administrators alike. A robust cybersecurity framework was
also put in place to safeguard candidate data and examination integrity.
➢ The candidates were randomly allotted by the computer. More than 99% of candidates got
their first choice of examination Centre.
➢ Examination centres were expanded in rural and remote areas to provide better access to
candidates across the country.
➢ AADHAAR Authentication was done at all examination Centres.
➢ Enhanced security measures were implemented to prevent cheating and ensure the integrity of
the examination.
➢ Based on a post-examination analysis of candidate responses, observational data, and
interesting statistical approaches, question-attempting logs were analyzed to identify
suspicious similarities between submitted responses. Subsequently, the examination logs,
behaviour, and CCTV recordings of candidates with suspicious similarities were examined in
more detail.
➢ A detailed plan was chalked out to execute the examination. Control Rooms for Strict vigilance
and monitoring were set up at NTA, New Delhi. Live feeds from Cameras installed in each of
the Exam rooms/Labs were closely monitored by Virtual Observers who generated real-time
alerts.
➢ A big pool of functionaries was deployed by NTA to provide biometric, frisking, CCTV, and
Jammer Services, besides NTA’s Officers and its own Observers, Virtual Observers, and
Flying Squads to facilitate the smooth conduct of the examination
➢ To minimize opportunities for cheating during exams, candidates were restricted from
taking toilet breaks during the first hour and the last 30 minutes of the NEET (UG) - 2024.
Furthermore, biometric attendance and frisking were conducted upon entering the exam
hall, and again upon returning from a bio-break.
➢ Apart from the biometric attendance and frisking at entry, candidates were frisked, and
biometric attendance was taken again on entry from the bio-break/toilets break.
➢ The PwD candidates were allotted to a PwD-friendly test Centre and extra organizational
support was given to those candidates.
➢ For the centres outside India, close coordination was done with the Embassy of India / High
Commission / Consulate General of India in those countries.
The NEET (UG) being one of the most sensitive examinations, NTA made elaborate arrangements at
various levels and took help from State Authorities for the smooth conduct of the examination.
To make the candidates and their parents aware of the rules and regulations of the examination,
candidates were sent various e-mails on their registered e-mail numbers. SMS was also sent to all the
candidates to download “Important Advisory and Instructions to the candidates for NEET (UG)
- 2024” along with the Admit Card.
The candidate’s particulars including Category and Person with Disability (PwD) have been indicated
as mentioned by the candidate in the online Application Form.
There have been cases of malpractice/impersonation where strict action has been taken on
impersonators/candidates.
In addition to the above, NTA has also conducted post-exam data analysis, to detect cases of
Unfair Means (UFM). Action on UFM cases is taken as per extant rules, which include
cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations.
The NEET (UG) - 2024 saw record-high registrations this year, with over 24 lakh students
registering, the highest ever, with over 10 lakh male students, and over 13 lakh female students.
This increase was facilitated by opting for several smaller cities as centers, especially in the
Northeast, hilly, and tribal areas.
