Buck Converter
Def: A buck converter is a DC to DC converter with an output voltage smaller
than the source voltage.
A buck converter is sometimes called a step-down converter since it "steps
down" the source voltage.
Buck Converter Method to Step-Down Voltage
Buck Converter may consists of at least two semiconductors (a diode and a
transistor) and at least one energy storage element: a capacitor, inductor, or
the two in combination.
Duty Cycle
Def: Duty cycle is the ratio of time a load or circuit is ON compared to the
time the load or circuit is OFF.
A duty cycle or power cycle is the fraction of one period in which a signal or
system is active.
Duty cycle, sometimes called "duty
factor," is expressed as a
percentage of ON time. A 60% duty
cycle is a signal that is ON 60% of
the time and OFF the other 40%.
