Upgrading a power system usually results in improving its operations by replacing the
ORION controller software, activating additional features.
The configuration in the ORION controller may need to be updated if additional rectifiers
are added. In the event that rectifiers are removed from the power system, the
configuration in the ORION controller will need to be updated to prevent unnecessary
alarms being generated.
The detailed information about the compatibility of the SW and HW versions is presented
in the following table.

Step 2 From the “File Type” drop-down list select “ORION SW” and click “Load File
from PC”.
Step 3 Click “Browse” and choose the SW file to be transferred, and select it.
Note! The upgrading of V5.00 into a higher version must be done without a
setup file. Please be aware that default network settings are used after reboot
and therefore this upgrade cannot be done remotely.
Remark: The location of the File Manager with V5.00 is Home → System → File
Manager.
Step 4 Reload the setup from your PC as instructed in section 4.1 "Uploading
an alternative configuration from PC to ORION".
Step 2 On the LCD screen, the menu 6.11 FILE MANAGER appears automatically.
Step 4 Choose the ORION software file to load, press ENTER and confirm.
Please be aware that default network settings are used after reboot and therefore
downgrading cannot be done remotely. In addition, the old configuration cannot be
retrieved anymore i.e. the complete configuration is lost including settings such as SNMP.
Note! Before downgrading the ORION software the configuration file must be
deleted manually in the file manager.
ORION is not able to interpret setup files created with a newer software version
than the currently running.
Note! It is not possible to downgrade the software of ORION ID:A1 to 5.00, the
software of ORION ID:B1 or ORIONc ID:C1 below 6.00 or the software of
ORIONeco ID:D1 below 6.50.
Use the following procedure to downgrade the software through the web interface:
Step 2 Check the “Delete” box of the setup file and click “Accept Changes”.
Step 3 From the “File Type” drop-down list select “ORION SW” and click “Load File
from PC”.
Step 4 Click “Browse” and choose the SW file to be transferred, and select it.
The progress of the update will be displayed. If an error occurs, the update procedure will
stop. Upon completion, the ORION will automatically reboot with the new software.
Step 2 From the “File Type” drop-down list select “Configuration” and click “Load File
from PC”.
Step 3 The “Load File from PC” window appears. Click “Browse” and choose the
configuration file to be transferred, and select it.
The other use-cases related to configuration handling are described in the document
“User manual, Configuration instructions, ORION controller”.
Step 2 Click the checkbox of the file to be deleted and click “Accept Changes”.
Step 3 From the “File Type” drop-down list select “Language” and click “Load File from
PC”.
Step 4 The “Load File from PC” window appears. Click “Browse” and choose the
language file to be transferred, and select it.
The upgrading of module SW is done in two steps. First the SW is uploaded from PC to
ORION and then the SW is loaded into the module.
Note! ORIONeco ID:D1 does not support all the same modules as ORION and
ORIONc.
Step 2 The file manager window can handle up to 10 module SW files. If necessary,
one file must be deleted in advance. To do so, click the checkbox of the file to be
deleted, then click “Accept Changes”.
Step 3 From the “File Type” drop-down list select “Module SW” and click “Load File
from PC”.
Step 4 The “Load File from PC” window appears. Click “Browse” and choose the
module SW file to be transferred, and select it.
Step 2 Select the module to be upgraded from the menu tree. Controller modules are
upgraded in menu Configuration → HW Setup → ...
Each controller needs an individual license key which is based on MAC address of the
controller. The MAC address can be read through WEB GUI. It can also be read locally
through the UIM / UIL or from the product label on the controller.
SNMP can be activated either in the field with a laptop connected to the ORION, or
remotely over a LAN.
Note! The software license key is not saved in the setup file and cannot be
copied from controller to controller.
Note! Delta provides two Management Information Base files that must be
copied to the NMS application.
Step 3 Enter the license key code and click “Accept Changes”.
ORION controller can be upgraded to support Modbus Slave protocol by configuring the
functionality via web interface and by loading in the Modbus Slave Mapping File.
Please contact Delta in case such upgrade is needed in order to provide the correct
mapping file. Delta needs the setup file of your ORION controller.
Step 7 Select File Type “Modbus Slave Mapping File” and click “Load File from PC”.
Step 8 Click “Browse” and select the mapping file in your PC.
Step 10 Check the default logo to see if there are messages concerning incompatible
mapping entries.
Note! The protocol will be running even in case there are some incompatible
mappings, but some registers might not provide the correct information.
Follow the process below to configure Modbus Slave RTU or ASCII protocol.
Step 3 Select “Modbus Slave – RTU” or “Modbus Slave ASCII” and click “Accept
Changes”.
Step 7 Select File Type “Modbus Slave Mapping File” and click “Load File from PC”.
Step 8 Click “Browse” and select the mapping file in your PC.
The activation procedure is identical to the one described in section 7 "Activating SNMP".
The Rectifier Setup dialogue displays the status of the installed rectifiers.
After acknowledging the new rectifiers, the “Rectifier installed” field displays the updated
number. The “Rectifier new:” field value should be 0.
Use the following procedure to verify that none of the rectifiers show an error.
The Rectifier Monitor dialogue displays the status and configuration status of
each rectifier.
Step 2 To physically locate a rectifier, click “Show module” for the required rectifier. The
“Com”-LED of the rectifier will flash for one minute.
Alternative procedure:
