Department of Management Studies organized an industrial Visit on 10


October 2023 for MBA-SCM students of 1st semester to ALL CARGO
warehouse to understand the warehouse management.
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Allcargo Logistics Limited (ALL) is a provider of integrated
logistics solution services. It operates container freight station
and inland container depot facilities providing a range of
distribution, warehouse, and supply chain solutions. The
company services include LCL consolidation, Full Container
Load (FCL) forwarding – exports and imports, air freight
services, import and export handling, bonded and general
warehouse, specialized cargo handling, maintenance and
repair of dry containers, reefer monitoring service, and hazmat
handling. The company also engages in project feasibility and
final reconciliation, shore-based management services,
multimodal transportation, over dimensional and over-weight
cargos and heavy lift planning and execution services. It has
operations in Europe and the Americas. ALL is headquartered
in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Here is an overview of Allcargo:

1993 by Shashi Kiran Shetty, and it is headquartered in
Mumbai, India. Over the years, it has expanded its services and
operations both within India and internationally.

HISTORY OF ALL CARGO
The company, founded by Shashi Kiran Shetty, commenced
operations in 1994 as a cargo handling operator at Jawaharlal Nehru
Port, Mumbai. Initially, the company started as a customs house
agent and provided freight forwarding services.

In 1995, ECU-Line, an Antwerp-based logistics firm, appointed


Allcargo as their India agent. In 2003, the company started its first
Container Freight Station (CFS) at JNPT. In 2007, it started two new
CFSs at Chennai (in Tamil Nadu) and Mundra (in Gujarat), and one
in Kolkata (in West Bengal), in 2017.

In 2018, Allcargo Logistics decided to monetize its existing land banks


and expand into logistics and industrial parks to provide warehousing
services under the name Allcargo Logistics Industrial Parks Private
Limited.

As of 2020, Allcargo is one of the largest non-vessel operating


common carrier, with a focus on Less-than-container load business
and domestic interests in container freight stations, international
supply chain, express distribution, and contract logistics.

In June 2023 Allcargo re-designates Shashi Kiran Shetty as Executive


Chairman.
INTRODUCTION
A company visit, also known as an industrial visit or corporate tour, is

an educational excursion or a professional tour that provides an

opportunity for individuals, students, or groups to visit a specific

company or organization. The primary purpose of a company visit is

to gain practical insights into the operations, culture, and functioning

of the company.
OBJECTIVE
1. To provide students or participants with a practical

understanding of how warehouses operate in real-world

scenarios, complementing their theoretical knowledge in

logistics, supply chain management, or related fields.

2. To familiarize participants with the principles of logistics,

including inventory management, storage systems, order

fulfillment, and distribution, in a warehouse setting.

3. To demonstrate various material handling equipment and

techniques used in warehouses, such as forklifts, conveyors,

pallet jacks, and automation technologies.

4. To introduce participants to modern warehousing technologies

and systems, such as warehouse management software (WMS),

barcoding, RFID, and automated storage and retrieval systems

(AS/RS).
5. To showcase how inventory is received, stored, and tracked

within a warehouse, including concepts like stock rotation,

safety stock, and inventory control.

6. To highlight quality control measures and quality assurance

processes within a warehouse, ensuring that products meet

specified standards before distribution.

7. To emphasize safety protocols and best practices in warehouse

operations, including safety training, hazard identification, and

emergency response procedures.

8. To illustrate strategies and technologies used to optimize

warehouse efficiency and productivity, such as lean principles,

5S, and process improvement techniques.

9. To explain how customer orders are processed, picked, packed,

and shipped within a warehouse, emphasizing accuracy and

timeliness.

Activities in the company on the day of the visit

On the day we seen the process of In bound and Out bound


process how the trailer are coming in they are showing there
paper and documents to get the entry.

After they get enter they are told where to go stay then the
crain pick up the container and load it in the trailer after that
they get the signal and paper verification is done at the gate
and they leave the premises.

If the cargo has not been taken they kept in the warehouses
for couples of days and they charge how much area they have
taken they charge on that.

Some of the ac container which they have to delivered on the


day so they plug in the adopter one day or two day before the
delivery date.

We have seen how they break the container seal and the
supervisor come and check whether it match the specification
which have been given in the paper.

CONCLUSION

The logistics industry plays a critical role in the global


economy. Companies involved in logistics, such as All Cargo

efficiently from manufacturers to consumers. The industry has
experienced significant changes and advancements driven by
