NOTE: As per EASA IR 21, a minor change is one that has no appreciable effect on the
mass, balance, structural strength, reliability, operational characteristics affecting the
airworthiness of the product. All other changes are major changes.

REASON/DESCRIPTION/OPERATIONAL CONSEQUENCES

Each channel of the cabin pressure control-system has only one pressure sensor. It is possible that
irregular/faulty values will not be detected by the BITE and can cause incorrect control of the cabin
pressure.

This Service Bulletin is published to advise operators of A318/A319/A320/A321 aircraft of the issue of
NORD-MICRO Service Bulletin No 20790-21-004 which modifies the outflow valve 10HL with electronic
modules 10HL-1 and 10HL-2 with a pressure sensor.

The accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will improve the cabin pressure control function.

The cabin pressure value measured by the Cabin Pressure Controller (CPC) P/N 20791-13AD, which is
introduced with Service Bulletin No. A320-21-1204 (Mod. No.15531K15281), shall be compared with the
EBOX cabin pressure sensor output. Faulty CPC cabin pressure measurement will be detected by the
system BITE due to mismatch between both values.

It is recommended to accomplish Service Bulletin No. A320-21-1204 simultaneously with this SB in

order to benefit from improvement of the system BITE. Only simultaneous introduction of both SBs
ensures that incorrect pressure control due to incorrect pressure sensing is avoided.

B. CONCURRENT REQUIREMENTS

C. REASON

(1) History

Each channel of the cabin pressure control-system has only one pressure sensor. It is
possible that irregular/faulty values will not be detected by the BITE and can cause
incorrect control of the cabin pressure.

(2) Objective/Action

This Service Bulletin is published to advise operators of A318/A319/A320/A321 aircraft

of the issue of NORD-MICRO Service Bulletin No 20790-21-004 which modifies the
outflow valve 10HL with electronic modules 10HL-1 and 10HL-2 with a pressure sensor.

(3) Advantages

The accomplishment of this Service Bulletin will improve the cabin pressure control
function.

The cabin pressure value measured by the Cabin Pressure Controller (CPC) P/N
20791-13AD, which is introduced with Service Bulletin No. A320-21-1204 (Mod.
No.15531K15281), shall be compared with the EBOX cabin pressure sensor output.
Faulty CPC cabin pressure measurement will be detected by the system BITE due to
mismatch between both values.

It is recommended to accomplish Service Bulletin No. A320-21-1204 simultaneously with

this SB in order to benefit from improvement of the system BITE. Only simultaneous
introduction of both SBs ensures that incorrect pressure control due to incorrect pressure
sensing is avoided.

D. DESCRIPTION

To accomplish this Service Bulletin it is necessary to :

before incorporation of the Service Bulletin.

G. MANPOWER

The manpower estimates given in this Service Bulletin are based on the direct labor cost to
do the work. These estimates assume that the work will be done by experienced personnel,
and may need to be revised upwards to suit operator’s circumstances. The estimates do not
include the time to prepare, plan or inspect the work. Manufacture and procurement of parts
and tools, drying times for paints, sealants, etc., and general administration work are also not
included.

WIRING IN A SATISFACTORY CONDITION (ELECTRICALLY AND
MECHANICALLY SERVICEABLE).

WHEN YOU DO MAINTENANCE WORK, REPAIRS OR MODIFICATIONS,

ALWAYS KEEP ELECTRICAL WIRING, COMPONENTS AND THE WORK AREA
AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. TO DO THIS:

- PUT PROTECTION, SUCH AS PLASTIC SHEETING, CLOTHS, ETC. AS

NECESSARY ON ELECTRICAL WIRING AND COMPONENTS.

- REGULARLY REMOVE ALL SHAVINGS, UNWANTED MATERIAL AND

OTHER CONTAMINATION.

THESE PRECAUTIONS WILL DECREASE THE RISK OF CONTAMINATION

AND DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL WIRING INSTALLATION.

IF THERE IS CONTAMINATION, REFER TO ESPM 20-55-00.

- Aircraft in clean configuration.

- Parking brake applied.

- Aircraft electrical network de-energized.

- Hydraulic systems depressurized.

- Access to the cockpit and cabin is available.

- All circuit breakers are in closed position.

- All controls in NORM, AUTO or OFF position.

(b) Make sure that the aircraft is electrically grounded, refer to AMM Task
12-34-24-869-002.

(c) Energize the ground service network, refer to AMM Task 24-42-00-861-001.

(d) Open, safety/lock and tag the applicable circuit breakers for the removal of the
outflow valve, refer to AMM Task 21-31-51-000-001.

(e) Put an access platform in position at the AFT Cargo door 826.

(f) Open the cargo-compartment door 826, refer to AMM Task 52-30-00-860-001.

(g) Remove the access panel 162CW, refer to AMM Task 25-55-12-000-003.

(a) Remove the safety clip(s) and/or tag(s) and close/unlock these circuit breakers for
the installation of the outflow valve, refer to AMM Task 21-31-51-400-001.

(b) Do the operational test of the pressure control and monitoring system, refer to AMM
Task 21-31-00-710-002.

(c) Do the operational test of the manual pressure control and monitoring system, refer
to AMM Task 21-31-00-710-003.

NOTE: The operational test of the pressure control and monitoring system must
be performed on both system channels. Ensure that TEST OK or a
failure message is displayed. If the test is interrupted it must be restarted
until TEST OK or a failure message is displayed.
