1 LX2 HARDWARE FEATURES

1-1 LX2 HARDWARE FEATURES

This ISERV is for the Lx2 hardware only. The Lx2 software has a separate ISERV (IS00009) since the software
release is before the hardware introduction.

The 1.5T and 1.0T Signa Horizon LX (Release 8.2) systems provide a new computer (Silicon Graphics Octane
computer) and a new operator workspace cabinet for forward production beginning FW22. Upgrades from
Release 3.x, 4.x and 5.x to LX will also be available.

The Octane computer will sit on the operator workspace table (the narrow table is no longer available). The
operator workspace cabinet contains the PC workstation, SCSI box (all system drives including the Legacy
Option), Bit3, and the LAN Hub. The operator workspace table includes the host computer monitor, PC monitor,
DASM, Workspace Interface Module (WIM), and the Serial Expansion Module.

There is one additional cable that runs from the Serial Expansion module (on the table) to the Systems Cabinet.
This cable is used to connect the debug ports of the Systems Cabinet.

All existing hardware in the system will remain the same. The following is a list of purchased hardware options
that will be available when the new computer is introduced:

2-3 INSTALLATION TIME

Installation time remains the same for the system. The installation time has been estimated at 10 days. There
are separate Black Belt projects dealing with this issue.

2-4 REQUIRED INSTALLATION TOOLS

There are no additional installation hardware tools needed for Lx2 computer systems. For a list of tools required,
refer to the following directions:

All repairable parts will be serviced by the supplier.

The new FRU’s to support the Operator Workspace table and cabinet are listed in the table below. These are
stocked by all 3 poles. All warranty repair is to be performed by OEM hardware suppliers. The FRU list for 1.5T

3-6 TRAINING

3-6-1 Field Engineer Training

Early readiness training was provided to field engineers globally through the ETC+ meetings. All training
material has been released to the GE Education Center where all future classes will be coordinated and
scheduled and training material will be distributed to the other poles. First in Pole support will be provided at the
request of the receiving pole. The user interface tutorial has been updated to include the new Lx2 hardware
features. The GE Education Center is creating a Computer Based Training (CBT) to be distributed on request.

3-6-3 Customer Training

No customer training is required for the new hardware. Customer training is required for Lx2 software as
described in the software ISERV IS00009.

3-7 TRACEABILITY
The following table lists the new items in the system that will be tracked and are shipped with ICD (product
locator) cards.

4 Planned Maintenance
The PM manual is being updated to include the new operator workspace and the Octane computer. The update
