SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE

CHEMISTRY

STUDENT- ORLANDO I. SALIOT DATE OF

MAY 2023
TEACHER JR. IMPLEMENTATION

PANGASINAN STATE
SCHOOL CLASS BSE III
UNIVERSITY

I. OBJECTIVES

The structure of biomolecules, which are made up

CONTENT STANDARDS mostly of a limited number of elements, such as
carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, and nitrogen
The learners shall be able to:
PERFORMANCE Using any form of media, present chemical reactions
STANDARDS involved in biological and industrial processes
affecting life and the environment.
S10MT-IVe-g-23.3.1
State and explain the “Law of Conservation of Mass”
LEARNING
by using common chemical reactions around us (ex.
COMPETENCY/OBJECTIVES
Burning of wood/paper, photosynthesis, etc.) and its
parts.

At the end of the lesson, the students should be able

to do the following with at least 80% level of success:
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
1.recognizechemical change;
2.identify the parts of chemical reaction;
3.able to write chemical equation.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

E. Values Integration
and cooperation.

IV. PROCEDURES
For the recall of the lesson, students will be asked the
ELICIT following questions;

A. Reviewing Previous 1. What are the two changes in matter?

lesson or 2. What do you know about Physical change?
Presenting a new Chemical change?
lesson. 3. Who can give an example of chemical change?
4. What do you think will happen during chemical
change?
The students will be given examples of changes in
matter all they have to do is to identify whether it is a
ENGAGE physical or chemical change.
1. Burning of wood (Combustion Reaction) –
B. Establishing a methane combined with two oxygen ion yields
purpose to form carbon dioxide and two molecules of
water(CH4+ 2O2CO2+ 2H2O).
2. Melting of Ice.
C. Presenting 3. Rusting of Iron Four Iron combined with three
examples/instance molecules of oxygen and six molecules of water
s of the lesson yields to form Iron III hydroxide (4Fe+3O2 +
6H2O2Fe(OH)3.
4. Paper cut into pieces

Based on the examples of chemical reactions on the

first activity, students will be asked to identify the
EXPLORE reactants and the products.
D. Discussing new 1. Burning of Wood
concepts and CH4 + 2O2 → CO2 + 2H2O

There are symbols used in writing chemical equations:

Table 7. Symbols and their Meanings

Symbol Meaning
To show
combination of
+
reactants or
products.
To produce; To

form; To yield
(s), (l), (j), (aq) (s)-solid, (l)-
liquid, (g)-gas,
(aq)-aqueous
(substance is
dissolved in
water)
→ Reversible
← reaction
Indicates that

heat is supplied

to the reaction
A formula
written above or
below the yield
→ sign indicates
its use as
catalyst or
solvent.

Using the symbols and formulas in Table 6 and the

symbols in Table 7, write the chemical reaction using
these symbols to complete the chemical equation.

EXPLAIN Answer the following guide questions:

F. Developing 1.When can you say that chemical reaction has taken
mastery (leads to place?

Assessment) products in a given chemical reaction?
3.How do you write chemical equations?

Guided Questions:

Generalization and 3.What are reactants and products? Reactants are the
abstraction about substances that enter into a chemical reaction, and
the lesson. products are the resulting substances.

EVALUATE Administer an activity to assess students'
