Semester 2 Capstone Project

Overview:
The Business Integration Challenge is designed to enhance your understanding and
application of key concepts from different subjects in BBA Semester 2.

Instructions:

● The submission of the project is mandatory

● Project to be conducted in groups—2 to 4 students per group (Max: 4 Students)
● Each group has to perform both the phases of the project.
● A final report needs to be submitted at the end of the project.
● Attend all check-ins and submit all documents.

Project Objectives:

The primary objective of this phase is to understand the factors contributing to the
failure of once-popular products. Through comprehensive market research and analysis,
students will delve into the reasons behind the decline in sales and eventual withdrawal
of these products from the market.

Phase 1:

● Choose a product from the below list of defunct products. List of defunct
products:
❖ Cadbury Bytes
❖ Boost
❖ Tata Nano
❖ Cadbury's Bournvita Cookies
❖ Hindustan Unilever's Ayush Products
❖ Game Boy
❖ Nestlé Maggi Oats Noodles
❖ Parle G Fizz
❖ Amul Butter Cookies
❖ Marico's Hair & Care Silk-n-Shine

● Design a questionnaire to gather insights from consumers, industry experts, and

relevant stakeholders regarding the failed products. (Questions should focus on
identifying the key reasons for failure, including market trends, consumer preferences,
competition, pricing strategies, distribution channels, product quality, marketing
efforts, etc.)
● Implement the questionnaire through surveys conducted in the respective markets
where these products were once popular.
● Utilize both online and offline methods to reach a diverse range of respondents,
including former customers, retailers, distributors, and industry professionals.
● Analyze the collected data to identify common themes and trends related to the failure
of the selected products. Categorize the reasons for failure and prioritize them based
on their significance and impact on the product's performance.

Phase 2:

In this phase, students will utilize the insights gained from Phase 1 to develop innovative
strategies for relaunching and revamping the defunct products. They will propose new
approaches to product development, marketing, and promotion to ensure the success of
the reimagined products in the market.

● Based on the identified shortcomings and feedback from Phase 1, propose

modifications and improvements to the product design, features, packaging, and
quality. (Emphasize innovation and differentiation to create a compelling value
proposition for consumers.)
● Develop innovative marketing ideas outlining strategies for branding, advertising,
and promotion of the revamped products. (Utilize a mix of traditional and digital
marketing channels to reach target consumers effectively.)
● Optional: Explore new age business models such as subscription-based services,
platform-based ecosystems, or collaborative consumption models as potential
frameworks for relaunching the products.

Deliverables:

1. A detailed proposal outlining the revamped product features, marketing

strategies, and implementation plan.
2. Analysis of the potential economic impact and scalability of the proposed
strategies.
3. Recommendations for monitoring and adapting the relaunch efforts based on
market feedback and performance metrics.

Prepare a detailed project report and a presentation.
