FORM TWO 2019

TERM ONE

TEXTBOOKS USED FOR SCHEMING

NEW GENERAL MATHEMATICS BOOK 2 (BY CHANNON et all)

MATHEMATICS TODAY 2

AIMS

To enable pupils to:

 Interpret, understand and communicate Mathematical information in everyday life.

 Apply Mathematical skills in National Development.
 Develop an enquiring spirit and critical thinking i.e. to reason and present arguments logically.
 Apply Mathematics in other subjects and to appreciate the beauty of Mathematics.
 Find solution to a wide variety of situations both familiar and unfamiliar.
 Develop good habits such as thoroughness and neatness.
ASSESSMENT OBJECTIVES

Pupils will be assessed on their ability to:

 Work out Arithmetic, Algebraic and Geometric problems accurately

 Use Mathematical symbols, terms, formulae and definitions
 Translate, recall, recognize, predict, generalize, measure and establish Mathematical relationships from given data
 Check the correctness of given solutions

METHODOLOGY:

 Concepts to be developed starting from the concrete (the known) to the abstract (the unknown).
 Concepts to be related and build on what has been taught already.
 Group work to be used regularly.
 Pupils to be taught to check their and/ or other pupils’ solutions.
 New concepts to be learnt through activity-based and/ or guided discovery method.
 Pupils to be taught to solve their own problems by putting them in Mathematical form and solve them through project work.

TARGET GROUP AND CONTACT TIME

 The class comprise of pupils who are below average and took more time to understand Mathematical concepts.
 6 periods per week where each period has 35 minutes
