Submission Date: June 17, 2024

E  15ax  8az
1) A) Given that V/m at a point on a conductor surface, what is the surface charge
density at that point? Assume
  0 .

20 nC 2
B) Region y  2 is occupied by a conductor. If the surface charge on the conductor is m
, find D just outside the conductor.
2) A conducting sphere of radius a is half-embedded in a liquid dielectric medium of permittivity
 1 as in figure below. The region above the liquid is the gas of permittivity  2 . If the total free
charge on the sphere is Q, determine the electric field intensity everywhere.

3) The positive y-axis (semi-infinite line with respect to the origin) carries a filamentary current
of 2A in the –ay direction. Assume it is part of large circuit. Find H at:
a) A (2, 3, 0)
b) B (3, 12, -4)
4) A filamentary loop carrying current I, is bent to assume the shape of a regular polygon of n
sides. Show that at the center of the polygon

nI 
H sin
2 r n
Where r is the radius of the circle circumscribed by the polygon
5) A conducting triangular loop carrying a current of 2A is located close to an infinitely long,
straight conductor with a current of 5A, as shown in figure below.
Calculate:
a) The force on side 1 of the triangular loop
b) The total force on the loop
