DATA ASSESSMENT
Data assessment tools help you
identify and fix problem areas in
your data by examining column
content and designing effective jobs.
Introduction
Discrete entities tthat are described
objectively without interpretation.

No significance beyond its existence

Data is a collection of information

gathered by observations, measurements,
research or analysis. They may consist of
facts, numbers, names, figures or even
description of things .
Businesses and organizations collect many different
types of information, to help quantify their cyber
security risk exposures, companies should first
understand the types of information they are
collecting, storing, and sharing. This information can
range in complexity from a simple inventory of
products to personal information, including private
health and financial records. Personal and customer
information may be subject to federal, state, and
local regulations, payment card industry standards,
or perhaps foreign privacy standards.
While having a data security policy is the
first step to help protect your data, the
next logical step is to inventory all the data
you handle during the course of business.
This can help you classify it based on its
confidentiality to determine who should be
authorized to access it and to determine
the level of data security needed.
The data profiler
The data profiles provides column analysis
and relationship statistics in reports so that
you can understand the content of your
data and identify potential problems with
your data.
The following describes the data assessment tools that
SAP Data Services provides to help you determine and
improve the quality and structure of your source data.

DATA PROFILER

Determines the quality of your data before extraction

in the following ways:

Identifies anomalies in your source data so that

you can develop corrective actions in transforms,
such as validation and data quality transforms.
Examines the distribution,
relationship, and structure of
your source data to help you
design jobs and your target
data warehouse.

Compares the content of your

source and target data so you
can verify that your data
extraction job returns the
expected results.
VIEW DATA
Provides data knowledge that
helps you design more
effective jobs. Compares
sample data from each step
of a data extraction job to
verify that your job returns
the expected results.
DESIGN TIME
DATA VIEWER
Provides data on input and output in real time,
while you design a transform. Used before the
data flow is complete or valid.
VALIDATION TRANSFORM

Verifies that your source data

meets specific business rules so
that you can design your jobs to
mitigate potential content issues.
Auditing data flow Data quality transforms

Provides rules to Standardizes and

the correct outcome, and
provides actions when
data fails an audit rule.
Data Validation
Dashboards
Located in the Data Services Management Console, allows
you to evaluate the reliability of your target data. Bases
reliability on the validation rules that you created in your
batch jobs. Allows you to review, assess, and identify
potential inconsistencies or errors in source data.
Benefits of
data To enhance efficiency in the workplace
and identify processes that are
assessment inefficient.

Providing quality care.

Can show you not only how complete

your data is but how muvh of that
data is valid.
