Chapter-I

Introduction
1.1 Statement of the problem:

Parents are the role model for every kid and they always look up to them.

Parents actually shape up their personalities. A parent’s every act has an

impression and influence on a child’s psychology. They acquire every value of

life; love, respect, affection, dealing with relationships, hardships, happiness,

education and success. When a 4-5 year kid steps into school he is mentally

grown up enough and has taken the roots of everything. His behavior and

attitude exhibit clear and loud.

Student performance is always measured by the ranking of the school but

is important but only the tip of the iceberg. Other factors that need

consideration and attention are the student’s intelligence, mental capacity,

socialization, physical surrounding, home environment, emotional background,

and above all parent involvement is the most crucial one. It's also their

responsibility to have a check and balance their kid’s education and get in touch

and involve with them.

A bunch of them found complaining are the carefree ones who solely rely

on institutions and dwell in the illusion that spending a bundle of money on

their child will get to the top. So by addressing this issue we can assimilate how

necessary is the parent’s involvement. What impact it would have on your child

and how it can make better your child’s performance and bring the best out of

them.

METHODOLOGY

The main objective of this research is to explore the role of parents in academic

performance of the students at elementary level. Methodology chapter of the research guides

about the methods and procedures that will be used in research.

3.1 Design

The research's design is its strategy for responding to its central question. Descriptive

research will be conducted in order to discover the answers to the study questions. Data will

be gathered from the teachers using a predefined questionnaire. To generate the results, the

collected data will be coded and examined using SPSS software.

3.2 Research Method

This research will use a quantitative method. The word "research methodologies"

refers to a wide range of methods for acquiring and analyzing information as well as the

many tools, strategies, and processes used in conducting research. The two basic categories

that can be utilized to classify research topics are qualitative research and quantitative

research. Since numerical data will be studied to draw conclusions about the research's

findings, it will be quantitative.

3.3 Population

The population for this study consists of the teachers, which are teaching at

elementary school level in government schools at district Gujranwala.

7

3.4 Sampling Technique

Simple random sampling technique will be used to select the sample size for the

study. This sampling technique is a type of non-probability sampling method where each

element of the population has equal chance to be selected for the study.

3.5 Sample size

120 Secondary school teachers will be taken as sample of the study using simple

random sampling technique.

3.6 Instrumentation—instruments/ tools used for the data collection

Questionnaire will be used as data collection tool. The questionnaire will be based on

5-point Likert scale rating from strongly disagree (1) to strongly agree (5) for data collection.

It is more convenient tool for gathering data from larger population. It provides responses,

which can be measured and analyzed quantitatively.

3.7 Validity and reliability of the tools/ questionnaires

Validity and reliability of the data collection tool is very important. Validity and

reliability will be determined through:-

❖ Pilot testing of the questionnaire

❖ Cornbach Alpha using SPSS

8

3.8 Time frame

Data will be collected in 4 months as on availability of teachers selected randomly.

Questionnaire will be forwarded to the respondents through different sources like face to face

meeting with students, Google form, social media platforms, emails and Whatsap.
