Recount

Recount text tells the reader what happened in the past, for example a vacation to Jakarta a
month ago. General structure :
1. Orientation (telling the readers who was involved, where the event took place, and when it
happened)
2. Events (describing the sequence of events in some sorts of order)
3. Reorientation (summarizing the events or closing statement)

Example or recount text

Orientation
On Saturday, I went to Bandung, I decide to go there because my friend, Mela, asked me to
spend three days there. I stayed at Mela’s house at Dago.

Event 1
On Saturday, we went to Curug Dago. It is located in the North of Bandung. It took 45 minutes
from the governor’s office or Gedung Sate. Curug Dago is beautiful waterfall. We had to walk
down on the step road for about one kilometer. Although we were tired, we felt excited. Then, on
the small bridge we saw the waterfall from the top and we got a closer look at the waterfall.
Next, we had lunch under a big tree not too far from the waterfall. We didn’t forget to take
pictures of the beautiful sceneries there.

Event 2
On Monday we went to factory outlet. I bought many shirts and shoes for my family. In the
evening, I went home. Mela took me to the railway station.

Reorientation
I really enjoy my holiday because it was fun experience.
