Example: if we select 1/96 and write 100 units, 1Y4 will be shown as 1Y indicates 96/96 (1 ounce) and 4 refers to the
units. (96+4=100). Each time the unit is changed, software shall be restarted in order to allow modifications to become
effective.

Read carefully: If unit ‘ml’ is selected, it is necessary to use a formula book which is formatted in milliliters and the
dispenser’s hardware must be enabled to dispense in milliliters, as a unit. Please contact the service before operating

Once the software is installed, check the UNIT MEASURE; please set in Dp. if your formulabook is calculated in Oz. then
select ‘Fraction’. The fraction will be displayed on the toolbar of the main screen (on left top)

If the UNIT MEASURE is not set correct, formulas could not be visible

19. Multiple dispense of colorant

PROSCAN software is able to manage a multiple dispense of the same colorant. If you set the colorant code in two or
more positions (up to 4) in the setting window, it is possible to dispense the same colorant from different canisters at
the same time by significantly reducing time. When colorant recipe is more than 1 Oz. the multiple dispense will be
activated

A and B colorant in the example figure will be dispensed at the same time from their respective canisters if the
formulation provides major quantities than 1 Ounce

If one or more positions are available for installing additional canisters, compatibly with system configuration, you can
use this useful PROSCAN feature.
If more than one canister, with the same name, are present in the configuration of the dispenser (which means
containing the same colorant), without activating any option, these will automatically be managed by the software;

Ounce calibration
To select a canister for calibration it is necessary to click on the corresponding side button (arrow). All the
information related to the color will be uploaded on the right side of the table.
After selecting the canister, the background of the box relative to the color code will change and turn
yellow
At this point you can proceed with the three colorant dispense. In case of manual use, without having the balance
connected to the system, values obtained must be entered manually in the appropriate boxes (Weight), then button
‘W’ must be pressed to get the calculation.
In the ‘Setup’ page, the ‘balance’ option must be on ‘Select’ – then the ‘W’ button will be activated.
Press 'Dispense' to dispense 1 ounce of color, read the weight displayed on the balance and enter it to the '1st
dispensing'. We obtain the difference, in absolute value and in percentage, between the theoretical weight and the
one, which was measured by clicking on "W". If the balance is connected to the software, it is not necessary to enter
the released weight manually, but it will automatically be displayed after the machine finishes the dispensing and set
to 'Ready'. When the balance is connected, button 'W' is disabled.
Repeat the operation three times.

If the values obtained are out of tolerance, then it is necessary to adjust calibration by reducing or increasing the value
in the Oz field related to the canister requiring calibration.

If dispensing is poor, the value should be increased. Instead, it should be decreased

if the amount dispensed is abundant.
Increase or decrease calibration factor by two or three points until obtaining an
acceptable weight (green background). There isn’t a constant ratio between the
adjustment and the percentage of error, just proceed performing little change and
check the dispensing every time.

Proceed the same way for all the other canisters requiring calibration.

Before shutting down, click on ‘Save’ to allow changes to become effective

If user considers it necessary, the procedure can also be interrupted before performing the three releases by clicking on
'Save' and the value obtained will be stored

Drop (Dp0 & Dp1) calibration factor

The drop calibration procedure is performed just as we performed the ounce calibration, so it is necessary to repeat
the steps in Ounce chapter.

Select to activate the calibration for 1/96 of Oz. (0,308 ml)

By pressing on 'Dispense', the machine will dose one shot. Theoretical weight will be displayed in the 'Theoretical
value' box. To adjust the factor follow same procedure of Ounce, if you get a low weight increase the factor in Dp1
column of some units, if you get a high weight just decrease the factor.

Repeat the same operations also for Dp0. Click on to activate the calibration for 1/384 of Oz. (0,077 ml)

Calibration Accepted
Once performed the calibration of a canister is possible to flag it as accepted or not.
Pressing the button ‘YES’ and ‘NO’ a green or red background will be displayed in the field ‘Cal. Status’ . This is an useful
feature, once the job is done, to remember which canister is calibrated and which not. The approval procedure is not
automatic, the operator will decide to accept the calibration after the three dispensing results.

Click on YES or NO to flag the canister as

calibrated or not. It’s only to remember
which canister is done at the end of the

Once terminated the calibration procedure, click on SAVE and close the program. Automatically the PROSCAN software
will be loaded with all calibration factors updated.

Manual dispensing

The procedure to perform the verification of manual dispensing is the same as the one described in the
previous chapters

Enter the quantity you want to

dispense. Unit=1/96 0f Oz. (0,308 ml)

Select the canister

you want to check

'Manual' feature may be useful to verify the amount of color dispensed apart from fixed volumes as a single drop or
ounce. As a matter of fact, it is possible to set any number of drops for the selected canister in the 'Drops' field, the
software will automatically calculate the corresponding theoretical weight. By pressing 'Dispense', the machine will
dispense the amount of color which is set in the 'Drops' field. Enter the weight that is displayed in the “1st dispensing'
field and press' W' to calculate it.
The units in the field ‘Drops’ are 1/96 of Oz. (0.308 ml)

In MANUAL section is not possible to modify drop (Dp) and ounce (Oz) calibration factors.

If out of tolerance data is detected after verification, then adjustments on calibration factors can only be performed in
sections Dp and Oz

The calibration of the Dp factor is irrelevant for volumes roughly > 10/96 of an ounce

Rel. 2 - July 2018
Fast Calibration

If is you wish to use the 'Fast Calibration' feature, it is necessary to connect a compatible balance to the
software because it must work automatically.
This practical feature allows you to perform the calibration of a drop (Dp) automatically.
Select the canister you wish to calibrate by checking the box on the side, and then press the "Fast Calibration" button.
The software will automatically perform the operations described in the previous chapters. A unit of the fraction
selected in the setup will be released for each selected canister; therefore, weight will be obtained, compared with
the theoretical one and in case it is out of tolerance (red background), the Dp factor will automatically be modified
and the procedure will be repeated. If a normal value is not obtained after 5 releases and relative changes to the Dp
factor, the software will move on to the calibration of the following canister and will highlight the non-calibrated
canister with a red background.

At the end of the procedures click on 'Save' before shutting down. The values , which are still out of tolerance, marked
by a red background, can be controlled manually in the 'DP' section or repeat Fast Calibration by selecting the
canisters you wish to re-calibrate only
