**Performance Task: Exploring Trophic Levels in an Ecosystem**

**Objective:** By the end of this task, you will demonstrate your understanding of the importance of
trophic levels in an ecosystem by creating an e-poster. Throughout the task, you will engage in critical
thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, cross-cultural understanding, computer/ICT skills, and
reflect on lifelong learning opportunities related to the topic.

**Task Components:**

1. **Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving (Individual, 10 points):**

Your teacher will present you with a scenario related to an ecosystem problem, such as the decline of a
specific species due to changes in trophic levels. You will need to analyze the problem, identify potential
causes, and propose solutions or research relevant information to address the issue effectively.

2. **Communication (Group, 15 points):**

In your group, you will discuss and brainstorm ideas for your e-poster design. Each member will
express their thoughts and contribute to the overall concept using varied media, such as sketches,
written descriptions, or digital mock-ups.

3. **Collaboration (Group, 15 points):**

Your teacher will assign different roles and tasks to each group member, such as researcher, designer,
content creator, and presenter. Each member will be responsible for their assigned task, and together,
you will collaborate to create a cohesive and visually appealing e-poster.

4. **Creativity (Individual and Group, 20 points):**

Using the information gathered from your research and discussions, you will design a visually engaging
e-poster that highlights the importance of trophic levels in your chosen ecosystem. You can incorporate
illustrations, infographics, and interactive elements to convey your message creatively.

5. **Cross-Cultural Understanding (Group, 10 points):**

Your teacher will present examples of ecosystems from different ASEAN countries. As a group, discuss
how cultural perspectives may influence the management and conservation of ecosystems in each
country. Describe how you would interact with people from different cultures to address common
environmental challenges related to trophic levels.
6. **Computer/ICT Skills (Individual and Group, 15 points):**

Your teacher will provide digital resources, such as databases, online articles, and multimedia tools, to
support your research and e-poster creation. Utilize these resources effectively to gather information,
create digital content, and enhance the visual appeal of your e-poster.

7. **Career and Lifelong Learning (Individual Reflection, 15 points):**

Reflect on how this task has deepened your understanding of ecosystem dynamics and the importance
of trophic levels. Consider how you can continue to learn about and contribute to the conservation and
management of ecosystems in your future career and lifelong learning journey.

**Submission Guidelines:**

- Submit your completed e-poster electronically, including all necessary text, images, and multimedia
elements.

- Each group member should also submit a brief reflection on their individual contributions to the project
and what they learned from the collaboration process.

**Assessment Rubric:**

- Depth of analysis and creativity in problem-solving

- Clarity and effectiveness of communication within the group

- Contribution to group collaboration and fulfillment of assigned roles

- Creativity and visual appeal of the e-poster design

- Demonstrated understanding of cross-cultural perspectives on ecosystem management

- Effective use of digital resources and ICT skills

- Thoughtfulness and insightfulness of the individual reflection on lifelong learning opportunities

**Note to Students:**

This performance task offers you the opportunity to explore the complex interactions within ecosystems
and develop essential skills for future academic and professional endeavors. Embrace the challenge,
collaborate with your peers, and unleash your creativity to create an impactful e-poster that reflects your
understanding and passion for environmental conservation.
PT IN GRASPS FORM

Performance Task for Grade 7 Students: Exploring Trophic Levels in Ecosystems

Goal: Your goal is to educate your community about the importance of trophic levels in a chosen
ecosystem through the creation of an e-poster.

Audience: You will be presenting your e-poster to your classmates, teachers, and members of
your community during a science fair.

Role: As young environmental scientists, you will take on the role of educators, responsible for
sharing your knowledge about ecosystem dynamics and the significance of trophic levels.

Situation: Your community is experiencing changes in its local ecosystem, leading to concerns
about the stability of the ecosystem and its impact on biodiversity. As Grade 7 students, you have
been tasked with investigating these changes and raising awareness about the importance of
trophic levels in maintaining ecosystem balance.

Product: Your product will be an e-poster that visually illustrates the concept of trophic levels
and their significance in your chosen ecosystem. You will use text, images, and diagrams to
convey your message effectively.

Standards:

1. Content Accuracy (25 points):

o Your e-poster should accurately explain the concept of trophic levels and their
role in energy transfer within ecosystems.
o Provide specific examples from your chosen ecosystem to illustrate the concept.
o Ensure that all information presented is scientifically accurate and supported by
evidence.
2. Visual Presentation (20 points):
o Design a visually appealing e-poster that captures the attention of your audience.
o Use colors, fonts, and images effectively to enhance understanding and
engagement.
o Organize information in a clear and logical manner, making it easy to follow and
comprehend.
3. Clarity of Explanation (20 points):
o Clearly articulate the importance of trophic levels in maintaining ecosystem
stability and biodiversity.
o Use language that is appropriate for your audience, avoiding jargon or overly
complex terms.
o Ensure that your explanation is easy to understand and accessible to individuals
with varying levels of scientific knowledge.
4. Audience Engagement (15 points):
o Consider the interests and knowledge level of your audience when designing your
e-poster.
