1. What are the main stages in the model of communication we discussed at the beginning
of the year?
 Sender has an idea

 This statement is conversational but it lacks professionalism. “we can complete this

 There are two adverbs – really and quickly.

8. “I need to use better gas to fuel my vehicle.” Is this sentence concrete?

 No, this sentence is not concrete. Vague is better

9. “That movie was absolutely, positively the most boring, insipid and condescending thing I
have ever seen.” Does this sentence make the best use of vivid adjectives and adverbs?

 No, just too much.

10. True or false: “There is never any excuse to use jargon in your writing.”

 False, If you are sure your audience will understand the jargon, then use it.

 Don’t play with fire.

12. I need to write a note telling a customer that her account has been suspended. I decide to use
the direct pattern. Is this a wise idea?

 No, this is not a wise idea for using the direct pattern. Indirect approach would be better.

13. I need to tell my employees that they are getting a bonus for exceeding their quota this
month. I begin my message establishing goodwill and then go on to explain the reasons why they
are getting the bonus, before telling them about the bonus itself. Is this a wise idea?

 Yes, this is a wise idea.

 The computer repairs you requested have been completed.

 We entered the receipts into the logbooks.
