Instructions :
 Answer all the questions.
 Show the working where necessary.
 ½ mark each will be deducted for missing or incorrect units.
 Keep your colour pencils at hand.
 Borrowing of any stationery will not be allowed.

PART I (2 marks for each sum.)


1. What is the value of 8 in;
(i) 7 280 953 - Eighty thousands / 8 ten thousands / 80 thousands / 80 000 (1 mark)
(ii) 5 635 802 - Eight hundreds / 8 hundreds / 800 (1 mark)

2. Colour the smallest number.

3. Write 6 309 275 in words.
Six million, three hundred and nine thousand, two hundred and seventy five
(If, 1 to 2 spelling errors, deduct 1/2 mark / If, 3 to 4 spelling errors, deduct 1 mark)

4. 20 + 40 + 80 + 30 = 170
5. Multiply 50 by 36. 50 x 36 = 1 800
(1 mark)

6. Find the cost of 6 key tags, in pounds.

= £ 78 (If unit missing, deduct 1/2 mark)
£13 = 7800 p (Deduct ½ mark, for not following instructions.)

7. 492 000 – 50 000 = 442 000


8. Write using numerals.
