Welcome back! I hope you have all had an enjoyable holiday with your child. Term 6 continues to be busy with both
internal and external examinations for our senior students, and we have many trips and events to look forward to over
the next 7 weeks.
Thank you to all our students, for their exemplary behaviour during the examination period. We hope your child
receives the results that you and they are hoping for, we also understand that awaiting exam results can be a nervous
time. If you have any concerns about your child’s educational future, our dedicated staff members are here to assist
you in exploring all available options. Whether your child is experiencing sleep troubles, appetite changes, or feelings
of anxiety, please do not hesitate to reach out to the relevant Director of Key Stage or Pastoral Officer:
To all our students: Good luck in your exams! May your hard work and dedication lead to success!" 🌟📚
Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. We are committed to supporting their well-being and ensuring
they achieve success.
Safeguarding:
A reminder that here at Boston High School we utilise Whisper which is an online anonymous communication tool
within the school community. Whisper allows students and parents alike to report any issues or concerns they may be
having, anonymously, via text message or email. The school will be able to actively respond to any reports and offer
the correct guidance and support where needed. We hope this will allow students and parents to feel confident in
coming forward with any problems they may be experiencing. To access Whisper please visit our website and on the
portal tab you will find all the information you need regarding Whisper and how to submit an anonymous report:
https://www.bostonhighschool.co.uk/index.php/portal/whisper-anonymous-reporting
As always, we also have an emergency contact number for any safeguarding concerns, the contact number is: 01205
310446. We are also contactable via email on [email protected]
At Boston High School, our commitment to students is unwavering. Their wellbeing, safety, achievement, and
happiness are at the heart of every decision we make. Safeguarding goes beyond child protection; it encompasses a
wide range of areas. Our staff receive comprehensive training in safeguarding, which is regularly updated.
Additionally, our curriculum equips students with age-appropriate knowledge to maintain their health and safety,
especially within their Enrichment curriculum.
Our commitment to student’s wellbeing is paramount which has been recognised by our 3-year validation of the
Wellbeing Award for Schools. To ensure we can always support students, more members of our pastoral team have
completed the Mental Health First Aid training this last term; Mrs Lafferty, Mrs Graves, Mrs Bils, and Mrs Ashton.
They join our team alongside Mrs Gilton as Senior MH Lead, Ms Whitton, Mrs Turner, Mrs Wise, Mrs Mitchell and
myself. We are also a MHST school, which means we work closely with the Mental Health Support Team who will
come to school for students who need support, as they offer specific support of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. We
also have our in-house School Counsellor, Mrs Simmonds, available to support our students.

Student Wellbeing:
Since launching our PULSE check-ins as part of our ‘Wellbeing Wednesday’ initiative in September, we have found
the information and communication, fundamental in supporting our students. Being able to monitor the wellbeing of
our students is imperative, however we have also found the tool to have had a positive impact on not only students,
but staff with regards to saying thanks (giving gratitude). This is something students and staff can do daily. The impact
of this notion has developed motivation and kindness.
Attendance:
We would like to take this opportunity to provide you with an update on attendance matters at our school. As
professionals, we understand that attendance is closely linked to academic achievement. However, it is essential to
recognise that attendance also plays a crucial role in students’ overall well-being and their access to social
opportunities within the school community. Therefore, we promote attendance to school whole-heartedly.
Reporting an Absence:
As a school we expect students to attend school regularly, however, we acknowledge that there may be unavoidable
circumstances leading to absence. In such cases, we kindly request parents to follow these steps:

Access Our Attendance Policy:
You can find our detailed attendance policy on our school website. Please note, there are national changes from the
Government starting from September 2024 with regards to absence and issuing fines to parents and carers. We shall
communicate this information to you before the end of term.
Positive News:
We are pleased to share that attendance at BHS has significantly exceeded the national average so far, this
academic year.
Thank you for your continued support in promoting regular attendance and fostering a positive learning environment
for our students.
Here is the current House leader board for this academic year so far:
Allan 50,116
Conway 47,555
Ingelow 48,006
Kitwood 47,962
Lindis 49,625
Congratulations to Allan, who were top of the leader board at the end of Term 5.
Our school CODE of commitment, opportunity, discipline, and excellence is integral to the high standards and
expectations we have of all our students. This academic year, we mapped our school CODE to our recognition points
so our school community can see daily the behaviours we want to see. So far, this academic year, across the school,
the highest reported recognition is for COMMITMENT – HIGH EXPECTATIONS.

Uniform:
As we approach the end of this academic year and the summer break, we want to remind you that if you are
purchasing new uniform for your child over the holidays, it is imperative that the uniform adheres to our school’s
uniform policy, a copy of which can be found on our school website. Our uniform policy is non-negotiable, and all
students must comply with it. If a student arrives at school in incorrect uniform, they will be provided with the correct
attire from our uniform shop in the Main Office. We are reviewing the procedures for uniform infringements ready for
the next academic year, and we will communicate these with the school community before the end of the academic
year.
Uniforms play a crucial role in fostering a sense of belonging, contributing to a positive learning environment, and
reflecting our school’s ethos. We appreciate your support in ensuring that your child always wears the correct uniform.

the school perimeter unless you have made prior arrangements with our site team or main office. Please note that
no vehicles will be allowed on site before 4.00pm and site staff will enforce this action. Thank you for your
attention to this notice, for your understanding and, as ever, for your support of our school and this important safety
