Description
Expectations
1
1) Import Rigged Asset:
Open the provided rigged asset file (AS_MocapGuy_v07.ma) in your
animation software.
2) Create an Animation Guide:
Either shoot or download reference footage of the actions documented in
the next steps. This will serve as your reference for more accurate
movement.
3) Create Basic Object:
a. Create a basic object, like a cube, to represent the heavy stone/box.
b. Position the cube on the ground in front of the character.
4) Animate Character Observing:
a. Set the starting frame for your animation.
b. Pose the character in a neutral stance, facing the heavy stone/box.
c. Animate the character's head and eyes to focus on the stone/box.
d. Add subtle movements to convey anticipation or consideration.
5) Animate Lifting the Stone/Box:
a. Move to the next frame.
b. Pose the character picking up the stone/box realistically, considering
weight and physics.
c. Ensure the character's body weight shifts appropriately during the lifting
motion.
d. Use the rig controls to manipulate the character's limbs, spine, and joints
for a natural lift.
6) Animate Throwing the Stone/Box:
a. Move to a later frame where the character is ready to throw.
b. Pose the character in a throwing stance, adjusting arms, legs, and torso
accordingly.
c. Animate the character's arm motion realistically, considering the force
applied.
d. Make sure to incorporate follow-through motion after the throw for added
realism.
7) Refinement:
a. Fine-tune the animation by adjusting timing and spacing for smooth
transitions.
b. Add secondary motions, like head turns or body shifts, to enhance realism.
8) Review and Adjust:
a. Play through the animation to review the overall flow.
b. Make any necessary adjustments to improve the realism and fluidity of the
animation.
9) Render:
a. Once satisfied, set up your camera angles and lighting.
b. Render a playblast of the final animation (must be rendered at 24fps).
Remember to save your progress regularly, and don’t hesitate to experiment with
different poses and timings to achieve the desired realistic effect.
