 Define Intercultural Understanding
 Discuss the importance of Intercultural Understanding.
 Classify Intercultural Understanding.

Key Concept
 Culture is a concept that encompasses the social behavior, institutions, and
norms found in human societies, as well as the knowledge, beliefs, arts,
laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of the individuals in these groups.
Culture is often originated from or attributed to a specific region or location.
 Intercultural understanding is the ability to participate and negotiate with
people in a variety of contexts.
 Participating and negotiating with people requires an ability to know and
understand your culture, another’s culture and have skill in working
between your own and another’s culture.

 Encourage the learners to share a unique aspect of
their cultural background.
 Discuss similarities and differences in a lighthearted
manner.

Activity 1: Picture Recognition

Mechanics:
1. Let the learners’ group themselves into five (5).
2. Each group can pick a picture as their assigned task to be
discussed.

Process questions:

1. What have you noticed from the picture?


2. Can unity occur regardless of their differences?
3. How does their cultural background work?
4. Based from the pictures, do you have an idea what is our
topic to be discussed?

diverse backgrounds.

3. Engage in activities that promote cultural awareness of
their culture, language, beliefs, and principles.
4. Discuss challenges faced and strategies employed for
positive outcomes.

Activity 4: Cultural Exchange


Directions: Write a journal entry reflecting on your
