• Situated learning theory by Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger (1991)


• Experiential learning by David Kolb (1976)
• Social constructivism theory

Explain how each of these theories is assisting you as a preservice teacher to become
a better teacher. Structure your answer as follows:

1. Discuss each theory in detail, providing examples of how it is assisting you in your
teaching. (30)

2. Identify the shortcomings of each theory and explain how you can address the
shortcomings in your teaching. (20)

within the school premises. The latest media reports indicate that teachers are also
involved in assaulting female and male learners at schools. Learners are sleeping with
teachers to get better marks.
