2. Why do you think Marriott targeted bedding as a business decision

considered the large budget involved? What information would they use to
support their business case (what kind of data, demographics, surveys
etc.?)

I think they target bedding as a business decision to improve customers

satisfaction while sleeping and to ensure betters reviews than the competitions.
By doing this the company can ensure a differentiation of their brand with others
and could meet their strategies principles. Even though this decision may involve
a large budget this can bring much more profit on a medium term thanks to the
involvement of the customers to make reviews on the new bedding and to
constantly update this product.

To support this program success, they can rely on different kind of data like:
 Demographic data to know how bedding can variate from a specific sector to
another in terms of comfort and requirements.
 Market research data to know what the competence is doing that they can
improve or do different to have a better position in the market of beddings.
 They can use surveys to know what the most common customers feedbacks
about bedding are so that way they can maximize the satisfaction of them.
 Environmental data to ensure that their product satisfices the eco-friendly
requirements.
 Cost and economical analysis to review the profits of the bedding market in
the last few years to see if it is rentable to get in this market.

3. Why would it have been important to change the culture of the employees
as part of this transformation?

I think it was because of the type of product that they would be developing in this
program. As in the previous question this at first, seems to be so expensive of a
program to do bedding for customers and in that way, employers could be
wondering if this type of product really have a credible impact for the company.

Ensuring that employers understand the program and its various requirements
will warrantee a good level of satisfaction and that’s why the demographic aspect
of this program is important due the capacity to understand the customers
regarding the bedding for different region. That’s why Marriott company decide to
train their employers on the new ways of switching the beddings to ensure a
better experience to the customers.
4. What type of project management approaches would be beneficial to
support success for this Program?

One of the most important approaches that this program needs to manage
effectively is the stakeholder engagement. This is an important approach due
the high presence that the stakeholders have in this program in terms of
founding, purchasing and customer satisfaction. Within this program they need to
have clear the interest of each stakeholder and utilize the correct
communications skills to have good connection with each one of them. Feedback
and reviews will be so important for this matter.

5. Prepare a ‘Lessons Learned’ section for this document with three (3) points
based on the information you gained from the article.

Lessons learned:
 Impact of the stakeholders in a large program. While reading the challenge
and solution section of this case of study I realized that having a good
approach on stakeholders can ensure a better development of a project due
their capacity to provide support in the financial and technical aspects.
 Scope of the projects. While reading the case of study I saw how narrowing
the project scope can be so beneficial to projects with a great risk on budgets.
This can ensure the project level of satisfaction for the customer as we know
thought feedbacks how they feel about the products requirements.
 Changes in how things are being doing are necessaries. Being capable of
adapt to changes is a quality that programs managers need to have within
programs with a huge impact on the company. That’s why this company
needed to train their employees to this new way of the bedding they wanted
to produce.
