DAILY LESSON PLAN

Learning Area: Science and Technology 10 Quarter: II

Date: 1/15-18/2024 Grade & Section: 10-St. Marcelo

Content Standards: Students demonstrate understanding of the images formed by different types of mirrors and lenses
Performance Standard: Design a simple magnifying instrument that makes use of mirrors or lenses and other common
materials, and prepare a product proposal of it.
The learners should be able to:
1. Locate and describe the images formed by plane and spherical mirrors using the mirror
equation;
2. Define refraction and explain its effects;
I. MELC/Objectives 3. State and explain the laws of refraction;
4. Differentiate a converging lens from a diverging lens;
5. Solve problems on refraction and lenses;
6. Explain the mechanism of sight;
7. Compare and contrast the eye and the camera.

A. Introduction: ii. Checking of Attendance
iii. Motivation

The student will describe their seatmate, after that they will compare it to the image form
in the spoon.

B. Interaction Day 1:
A.
 Reflection of light

When a ray of light approaches a smooth polished surface and the light ray
bounces back, it is called the reflection of light. The incident light ray that
land on the surface is reflected off the surface. The ray that bounces back is
called the reflected ray.
 Laws of Reflection
Law of reflection states that when a ray of light reflects off a surface, the
angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection.
 Mirror and Reflection
Two types of Reflection
A. Regular/Specular reflection is a type of surface reflectance often
described as a mirror-like reflection of light from the surface. In specular
reflection, the incident light is reflected into a single outgoing direction.
B. Diffuse reflection is the reflection of light from a surface such that an
incident ray is reflected at many angles, rather than at just one angle as in
the case of specular reflection.

Student Activity
Essay: Describe how light reflect and the law of reflection

Day 2:
B.
 Plain Mirror Images

A. Plane mirror is a flat, smooth reflective surface with a clear,

undistorted reflection. When an object is reflected in a plane mirror, it
always forms a virtual image that is upright, of the same shape and size as
the object.

 Spherical Mirror

a. Concave mirror is a curved mirror where the reflecting surface is on the

inner side of the curved shape. It has a surface that curves inward,
resembling the shape of the inner surface of a hollow sphere.

b. Convex Mirror is a curved mirror where the reflective surface bulges

out toward the light source. This bulging-out surface reflects light
outwards and is not used to focus light

 Ray and Images

When a mirror reflects light, it forms an image. An image is a copy of an
object formed by reflection (or refraction). A real image is a true image
that forms in front of a mirror where reflected light rays actually meet. A
virtual image appears to be on the other side of the mirror and doesn't
really exist.
How does mirror work?

A mirror is a wave reflector. Light consists of waves, and when light waves
reflect from the flat surface of a mirror, those waves retain the same degree
of curvature and vergence, in an equal yet opposite direction, as the original
waves.
