Lesson Plan in Science Grade 3

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of 45-minute period, with100% proficiency level, the pupils should be
able to:
a. Identify the parts of the animals;
b. Classify animals according to their function; and
c. Explain why animals are important to human.
d. Appreciate the importance of animals in our life.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

C. Materials: PPT Presentation: Picture of animals with names
Big pictures of horse, pig, chick and bird showing the body parts.

A. Preliminary Activities
a. Prayer
- Everybody stand for a prayer.

Lord God for your protection and


love we thank you. Help us to focus our hearts (Students doing the prayer)
and minds now on what we are about to learn.
Inspire us by Your Holy Spirit as we listen and
write. Guide us by your eternal light as we
discover more about the world around us.
AMEN.

b. Greetings
- Good morning Class. -Good morning Teacher.
-Good morning Classmate.
c. Checking of Attendance
- Who is absent today? -None Teacher. Everybody is here.

- What are the rules to follow when -Sit properly.

a. Motivation
- Before anything else, what animal -The animals that can be found in our

b. Unlocking of Difficulty
- Do you find animals are important? - Yes, teacher.

c. Presentation of the Lesson


- do you know why did I ask those
question? It is because our topic is all
about the animals in our surroundings.

-at the end of this period you’re able to:


Identify the parts of the animals;
Classify animals according to their
function; and
Explain why animals are important to
human.

- Very good! Now you know the


names and parts of animals. They have
different parts but there are parts common to
all animals, and animals have parts that make
them similar or different from each other.

- Body parts of animals used for getting


foods: beak, teeth, mouth,
and tongue.
- Body parts for protection against
animals: horns, spines.
- Body parts of animals for
movement: legs (walking, running,
jumping, galloping, hoping), wings
(flying), fins and tails (swimming).
- Now let us know why animals are
important to human.
ANIMALS AS SOURCE OF
LIVELIHOOD

Farmers raise goat, cow, lamb and other


animals simply to make a living by selling
milk, meat, etc. Fishing, rearing of hens and
pigs in farms also provide employment for the
humans.

ANIMALS WORK FOR HUMANS

Animals like hourse, ox, male buffalo, donkey,


carabao, etc. are used for transportation.
Donkey, horse are used to carry goods.
Elephants are used to shift tree, trunks and
stems in the forest. Carabao or buffalo help
farmers in field.

ANIMALS AS COMPANIONS

Animals quite often are kept as companions


toward off loneliness. Animals also become
objects of affection for the owners. Animals
offer us happiness and can be our best friend.

ANIMALS USED FOR SAFETY AND


SECURITY

Animals like dogs are quite often kept to guard


the master and his house. Dogs are used to
trace objects and people by using their sense of
smell. Animals like monkeys are trained
toward of animals near airports. Animals are
used to detect silent bombs buried
underground.

ANIMALS ARE CAREGIVERS

Trained dogs perform several tasks to assist


people with disabilities such as guiding people
who are blind, alerting people who are deaf,
pulling wheel chairs etc. Cats are also
sometimes trained to signal their deaf owner
for certain sound.

C. Closure
a. Generalization
* Let the pupils make a
generalization by asking the
following:
- Are there animals in different -Student: yes teacher.
surroundings?
- Are the parts common to all -Student: They have common part teacher, but
animals? Or different? some of them also have different parts.

- Are animals useful to humans? -Student: yes teacher, because animals is our
source of food, it keeps us safe, they become
caregivers, they become our companions, and
they help farmers in field.
b. Application
What are the animals that can be
found in surroundings?

c. Valuing
As a pupil, what are the animals that
you can say that helps you?

IV. EVALUATION
Activity Table posted on the board.

that are sources of pig, fish, cow, and

that are sources of sheep.
fur and skin for bags,
shoes, etc.?
C. Group of animals Student: horse,
that are used for carabao, and donkey
tilling the field and
carrying loads?

V. ASSIGNMENT
List down the name of the animal/s that you see in your surroundings that
you like the most, give its body parts and its importance to human.
