Discovering The Mysteries of Freemasonry
Discovering The Mysteries of Freemasonry
“the way of progress from darkness to light, from ignorance to knowledge, from the lowest
to the highest conceptions of Divine Truth. And this is, after all, the real object of all Masonic
science.”
Today we will find within our ritual there is a hidden message relating to important matters
leading to revelation of divine truth, to which our ancient brethren were sworn not to reveal
unless in the presence of two or more Masters.
It is only when you become an experienced craftsman and master mason that you can look
back at the journey you began when we were all, symbolically, reduced to the lowest ebb of
poverty and distress and previously volunteered ourselves, to be admitted into the secrets
and mysteries of ancient free and accepted masons, that we realise that our pre-conceived
ideas of actually learning great secrets and exciting mysteries in that first entrance into FM,
was somewhat premature and speaking for myself, quite confusing.
At the end of my initiation evening I was both elated and confused because I was a part of
something special and yet, I could not figure out what it actually was.
So, I pressed on having been assured the order contained great and invaluable privileges.
After I became an Installed Master in the science, I gave the whole matter considerable
reflection and realized that it is necessary to review our long journey and begin to
understand the brilliance of those ancient brethren who devised the rituals from which we
have derived great personal benefit because we know that our path of virtue and science
has taken us to a higher awareness of self and challenged us to improve our intellectual
capabilities,
I further concluded that some of us must come to the realization that I found within myself
that even now, we were all of us, even from the start, on a pre-programmed path that led
us through the paths of heavenly science even unto the throne of God himself; so that we
would come into masonic light by a very gradual process requiring a daily advancement in
masonic knowledge; during which that mysterious veil which the eye of human reason
cannot penetrate unless assisted by that light which is from above, will gradually be lifted
over a time no less than 7 years.
Our entrance into FM in a state of helpless indigence was an emblematical representation of
all men on this their mortal existence. Our entrance into a Lodge of free and accepted
masons; duly opened on the square was an actual event designed to give us a new
perspective on our own lives for the purpose of:
Building on our character to confirm to each of us, that our morality and integrity thus far
has not be misplaced, but rather recognized and valued by our friends who invited us into
this unique and secular but spiritual fraternity of men who value honor and virtue above the
external advantages of rank and fortune.
Thus, giving us all the opportunity to practice and build on the virtues of truth and justice for
the betterment of the human race. That practice naturally, brings us to a higher level of
consciousness.
The reward is the Great invaluable Privilege of spiritual enlightenment associated with
knowing yourself and having pride in yourself and your brethren. The revelations contained
with the RA degree are confirmation of the knowledge gained in 7 years of masonic study.
We are HA, the third man, who after 7 years, has been entrusted with great secrets which
can only be shared when 3 or more than 3 of us are assembled in private conclaves.
But right now, within 10 minutes of our first entrance into our Lodge, we are immediately
examined to confirm our willingness to proceed into the darkness, in an unknown
environment and therein, we are entrusted with the first and one most important elements
of knowledge necessary for us to reach a final understanding of the truth.
“The method of approaching the east in this degree is by three irregular steps of
approximately 9, 12, 15 inches” or another unit. We have been given the coordinates of an
ancient mathematical theorem.
Education has begun. We must not under estimate the numbers. They are much more than
symbols.
